Damn, back when they even featured live strings during a vocal performance:::sheds a joyful tear::::Shanice, quite possibly THE most "unsung" female artist of her generation. I actually saw her as Deniece Williams' natural successor the very first time I saw her in that now-iconic 'I Love Your Smile' video back when it first aired. In any other parallel universe, she would have been a BIG-TIME star on her own terms already (same goes for Carleen Anderson, Caron Wheeler, Maysa Leak, N'Dea Davenport, Nikka Costa, Brigette McWilliams, Alice Russell, and Janita for that matter). Definitely not too late for her, but she needs an "old school"-minded producer to fully unlock her true talents for once. Not many of those left, I'm afraid...maybe Bluey (Jean-Paul Maunick) of Incognito will finally give her a call for a welcome change... >;-)

Some black artists fit better in the Pop category. I think her record label pushing her into an R&B urban category stalled her career. She's just naturally Pop. The "Inner Child" album suited her more. Anything after that, didn't even seem like a fit for her.
