We don't acknowledge the achievement of harika and Hampi enough, they've been in top10 women for a long time and along with the juniors, they're the reason for india being such a strong team in mixed team events like Olympiad.

here the problem is, he went with the wrong check, he simply overlooked it, after Qe6+ instead of Qf8+ black is mated in two since Kg5 is met with h4+ and Qe2# And he loses because of some human errors more often than anyone else, I guess his problem is nerves but who knows, I'm not a specialist in neither chess nor psychology

Yes. A very strange mistake. But Sam had only just moved his queen away from defending this square on the fringe, to get his strongest piece centralized and thus better able to participate in counter-attack and defence. Which should have cost him immediately. Perhaps the main reason for her terrible oversight. She was not in extreme time pressure at the moment. Very strange things happen in blitz, even at the top level. So everybody should look at it with a sense of humor, I've always thought. I know I'm late to the party (pardon the pun), but am only slowly getting a bit into chess again after an interim of twenty years. These days I follow the Wijk-an-Zee tournament. And I followed the rapid event in Warsaw a month ago. This is REAL chess. Last time I followed the W-an-Z tournament, Kasparov was still at the apex of his powers! Something has happened. Still pretty good chess these contemporary 'kids' play 😉 I miss Aronian there, perhaps one or two others also. But the field is ok, always difficult to reach the optimal mix... Happy hunting to you on the 64 squares in 2022 my friend. 👋😊

Harika arranging the pieces on the board after the match, like a good wife, after the upset husband Shankland leaves in a hurry. 😂 I admire Harika, the way she is so calm and composed during a game, and the way she releases her emotions afterwards.
