People need to remember. Shanks got Famous because of Mihawk not the other way around. Shanks gradually got to Mihawk level but still hasn't beaten him

And you need to remember that Mihawk is older than Shanks so yeah he got clout because he already is an established swordsman way before Shanks became one. And Shanks without his dominant arm is still second only to Mihawk in terms of swordskills as the marines used him to to say how skillful Mihawk is. There is no way Shanks would get back to the way he used to in terms of swordskill that is why he honed his Haki to the extreme level. Kaido said haki trumps everything. So in conclusion, Mihawk could win in a duel but not in an all-out fight.

Of course people are going to use Luffy and Zoro as parallel to Mihawk and Shanks, Luffy has to beat one of the strongest pirates in the Manga, Zoro just has to beat a swordsman who couldn't even handle Jozu or flower vista of the Whitehead pirates. Hell even Luffy the way he is now can beat ihawk easily. Luffy beat Kaido you think Mihawk is doing that. Really Mihawk is the most overrated one dimensional character in the whole of One Piece and people like you only like the character because he looks cool.

Mihawk is underrated. I think they were equals before... shanks lost his arm... and after that mihawk didn't care about him because that win wouldn't be a real win for him anymore. So he is waiting for an opponent stronger than Shanks... means this opponent is capable of beating him. But at the same time shanks apparently didn't loose any power. However recently in the manga again it was said that he is more skilled in swordsmanship. So my opinion.... Overall Conbat Power is SAME. Shanks fans are just ignorant. “Peoples dreams never die!” One of the most important quotes from Blackbeard. Dreams are one of the biggest themes in all of one piece. Every member in the straw hat crew has a dream they want to achieve. For you guys to all believe shanks is stronger literally invalidates, arguably the second most shown character in the show. You think oda wrote zoros entire backstory and made his dream to be the strongest swordsman, SHOWED HIS FIGHT WITH MIHAWK, to specifically correlate to zoros dream to mihawk, so that when he beats him he will fulfill his dream just to turn around and say “Haha zoros the strongest swordsman except for special red hair man here!” It’s the exact same as saying Brooke would never meet laboon, sanji never gets to see the all blue; Nami never makes her map. It sounds absolutely fucking stupid to think oda made all these dreams for the crew just to turn around at the end and crush them. Zoros dream is a direct correlation to mihawks title. He beats him, his dream comes true. If you think zoro would be happy walking around the world calling himself the worlds strongest swordsman, while other people who use swords walk around and are stronger but just don’t “call themself a swordsman” you have severely misread and misunderstood zoro’s entire character

Shirohige has a Naginata and yet in Marineford they mention that Mihawk has the strongest thrust in the world, due to the title of the strongest swordsman, that includes haki. But that doesn't make Mihawk stronger than Shirohige or that he has a stronger haki, even Mihawk knowing that Shirohige had lost power in his words recognizes some inferiority. In other words, Shirohige was still very powerful and that is why Oda seeks to nerf him in different ways as much as he can. So what does he differentiate Mihawk from Shirohige in cutting ability? It is easy, for Mihawk it is a necessity, it is his main weapon, because Mihawk enters into a total swordsman concept, that does not apply with Shirohige, because for him the Naginata is not the only thing he has, it is not his main attack power, it is an extension and exercises it in different ways. Mihawk seeks to fulfill what he wants the sword to cut, Shirohige does not. Based on that, Mihawk can cut more than Shirohige even having the weakest haki and Shirohige being the strongest overall. I focus on common cutting ability as one of the qualities of a swordsman. Therefore in my opinion Mihawk will be stronger than Shanks, as long as Shanks enters the same concept of total swordsman as Mihawk, that is, they can be measured specifically in the use of the sword. Haki is an extension of the characters' power, it reflects their abilities, so Shanks's Haki focus should be entirely on the sword. If Shanks gets out of that framework and is someone more mixed then he in a general concept if he can be stronger than Mihawk. Otherwise no, meanwhile Mihawk is stronger than Shanks. In Big Mom's case it's different because she doesn't fall into a total swordsman category like Mihawk, she uses a lot of elemental Homies, she doesn't mind fighting with her fists. Big mom would enter the category of a warrior, she does not depend solely on Napoleon. Also, in general terms, she is terrible in battle.

Lmao Oda needed to nerf my man Shanks cause he way too strong. Mihawk been a swordman for quite some time before Shanks became one. But Shanks is so talented he caught up to him and became his rival. So Oda nerfed him taking away his dominant arm so that Mihawk could be the strongest swordsman and be Zoro's end game. But even after nerfing my guy Shanks, he still is a beast honing his haki to an extent that no one have seen before that even an admiral revert back to his original form after he felt that haki. And with only one arm the marines compared his skills to Mihawk, imagine that, with only one arm.

But instead he just said that his swordsmanship was superior to Shanks'.
