Taking shots at Lithuanian basketball Joy? They have been a powerhouse in world basketball for decades despite having a population of 2.5 million. They are without a doubt one of the strongest basketball nations in the world. In the world basketball championship, they placed 4th in 2014 and 3rd in 2010. To compare, USA placed 3rd in 2006 with Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Dwight Howard, Melo, Chris Paul and placed 6th in 2002. They have an excellent youth system and a very good cultural understanding of how the game should be played. Anybody who doesn't respect Lithuanian basketball does not know basketball.

Ian Graves Melo was ranked 6th in the ESPN top 100, which means he was primed to not only go to the nba but be a potential future nba star. Just look at the top 20 ranked players in the last several years and where they ended up, and thats with lamelo being a year declared ahead (hes actually playing up a graduation year, hes a true sophomore). Then his dad took him out of high school, put him in lithuania where he got 11-12 minutes a game, and based on the ball in the family show has not been doing much to get better

Chino Hills won the division 1 championship. When the Ball brothers were there, they played in the open division. Teams in the open division are usually quite better than teams in division 1. Teams in the open division are also usually private like Mater Dei. I'm not saying that Chino Hills's win in D1 isn't impressive, I'm just saying that they are not the same as when they won with the Ball brothers.

I've been saying this since day one Leanne Fresquez I have seen this kind of parent in two sports at the AAU level when I was playing and it was just sad and awful to see Parents so deliberately living out their dreams through their children. But then taking it to the nth degree and just ruining the game for them and then the parents acting like children when coaches with no vested interest in the kids playing would bench them or call them out on mistakes. Javi Rt couple of points on this: 1) they are well paid experts and I do not think, that covering Balls a lot is keeping them aflot in life. I think they would be pretty well off without covering them extensively, 2) analytical integrity in this case matters as both of them use sensationalism rather than analytical insights to maybe earn few extra bucks. This story about Balls required no analysis of any kind. So they took an easy way out rather than doing basketball research onuka Doncic or whatever and 3) ratings pay the bills is not a valid reasons to become TMZ, if it would be we would be still covering only Kardashians and NBA basketball hookups :)

The problem with this show and shows like it is that people act as if their views are the views of the masses. They care much more about “Ball in the family” then we do. Lonzo had a good rookie year. He almost averaged a triple double. The other 2 ball brothers can play. If they get picked up? Cool. If they don’t? Life goes on. It’s not a deep dive interpersonal type of thing all the time.
