When Dion visited Colorado and saw the resources and facilities at the school, it was amazing! He couldn’t understand how they were 1-11 on the season. In my humble opinion, Deion sorta brought some of that backlash on himself. If he never would have tried to sell this notion that HBCU's are rising up and competiting with P5s, he never would have gotten so much backlash after only staying 3 years. All that hype and attention likely was just an ulterior motive to promote himself more than HBCU's. There have been better HBCU coaches with more success that didn't get the opportunity that Deion got. Heck the NCCU coach outcoached Deion this year. Hype and attention got Deion that Colorado job. Because he has 0 Celebration bowl wins, never played in the FCS playoffs, and has never even played a Top 25 FCS team. Thats what makes it look like Deion just used JSU and the "HBCU" narrative as a stepping stone.

First it's been proven and some HBCU'S have won lawsuits showing how the state their in have been withholding the right amount of funds for decades check Maryland and Mississippi. Second the football program is part of the school. At no school does the football program keep all the money that's not how it works. A % goes to the school and then the % goes to the Athletic budget and the football team gets whatever % of the Athletic budget that given to them.
