Just had my bank account hacked, and there's a lot on youtube about how people hack you but not so much about how you can secure yourself like a guide of things to do to stay secure. Then I found your youtube and it's been really helpful, I've been going through as much of your videos as I can, thank you!

People don't care about securing their digital information until something like this happens. Technology evolves everyday, so should us.

Another great video, Snubs. I would like to believe that everyone knows these security basics by now, but then I visit relatives and realize how far we still have to go. I forward a lot of your videos out to friends and family. Hopefully, they're watching.

This is very informative. I have an Android phone and I always use the fingerprint option to lock/unlock my phone, whereas the iPhone 15 series doesn't support fingerprinting at all. They only have facial recognition & passcode options.

I have an amendment to one of your suggestions. Someone might have actually sent you something that was infected and know that they sent it, but didn't know it was infected. Years ago, my sister got an email from someone she knew and they shared a screensaver file which included a virus and my sister's anti-virus software caught it. My sister did reach out to this friend and the friend did say that indeed she did send it, but didn't know it was infected.

Is there a way to setup my Physical 2FA key to actually unlock my phone. I know it sounds like a hassle but is there an option for this? Thanks Shannon, love your work❤
@ShannonMorse Жыл бұрын
Not at the time. If you set up the screen lock, you have to use the built in options from Androids and iPhones. They don't have 3rd party options to unlock. The physical keys work for logging into apps downloaded on your phone tho 😉

I would add; don't be so eager to sell off your old phone as soon as you buy a new one. Instead keep the old now secondary phone continuously updated with home-wifi and/or sim-data plan enabled. Having a synced carbon copy backup-phone of your new phone is gold from a security standpoint.

Just a tip but your audio seems to go from sounding like it's under a blanket back to normal. like at 1:10 3:34 5:55. Seems to happen right after editing cuts. It's minor but thought I'd lyk. And as always thanks for all your contributions to the cyber-security world.

Is it true that apple is really more "secure"? I just switched to s23 ultra and have been a bit nervous about security. Ive followed all security protocol for the phone from your videos and others but I am still concerned..
@emplays2210 ай бұрын
Apple is more "secure" because of its closed software and higher restriction but that doesn't account for privacy. its almost impossible to "stop" apple from spying on you because they don't give you certain settings and developer options that android does. Long story short you'll be fine, you can achieve the same if not better security as apple just by changing your settings and habits.

and the S23 has a fingerprint sensor, so you are better off, regarding security options.

Thanks for sharing! Great advice! BTW, does an Android use antivirus? I have that AND a Bluetooth firewall. Yup. People have tried to connect to my Bluetooth even when I'm listening to music and it disconnected them. Unfortunately it does it by turning off Bluetooth. Haha but hopefully it's keeping me safe.
@mrkmdz Жыл бұрын
Antivirus isn't included in Android but can be added. Some carriers offer antivirus (along with call and sms spam protection) to subscribers for free.

Nobody asked me, but I don't remember my passwords or use a password manager. Instead, I created and memorized a hashing algorithm that I update every year. When i need a password, i use the algorithm on the name of the thing im trying to get into and i get the password. That way i only have to remember the algorithm.

Can we also tell family and friends to NOT put their passwords in their contacts. I see TONS of people doing this. I keep telling them nearly every single app on their phone wants access to contacts. They are giving their passwords to everyone.

72 hours is enough to call premium numbers, read and use all your social media maybe making posts begging your family, friends and potentially followers to send money or crypto to an address, to use your contactless payments, to steal all your saved logins....
