As a Telugu guy, I am proud to say everyone has put their heart out. For me, as Shan said, the hero would be Amitabh ji rather than Prabhas. It has an outstanding second half and a forgettable first half. Trust me, I slept in the first half! Second half visuals made this movie an outstanding attempt by an Indian team. Kudos to Nag Ashwin! Music is outstanding too..

Watched the movie yesterday. First half with Prabhas's unnecessarily extended fight scenes, his jokes, the whole Utopian sequence are gonna make you question the whole movie but the moment Amitji showed up and Deepika walks through fire, it grips you. Hang in there for the last 40 minutes.

What I am saying is that Nag Ashwin may not have copied this particular reference of a mysterious city from Marvel's Wakanda, as the stories of Shambala have been told long before Marvel characters and scenarios were conceptualized. FYI, it’s believed that many immortals and siddha gurus live in this place.

Just watched this movie.... I was so excited about it .. i absolutely agree with shaan's review 1st half of the movie can test your patience... But the 2nd half is worth having that patient... All the scene of amit sir were amezing and makes u feel the characters emotions ... If the makers Remove all the nonsensical hype of actors in the next part the movie would surely become a masterpiece

First half had incredible potential of world building. Loved the scenes with curious kid and those of Deepika's character. Wished the screenplay had spent more time on Deepika's character to flesh her out, make us as the audience root for her character. And yes, the Prabhas intro scene dragged for way too long. The Disha Patni scene was necessary though, to introduce to the complex and the for better world building.

If a movie is hit, success goes to the team (actors and technicians). In the same way, if a movie becomes flop, then the same team is responsible for the failure. You can't blame only one person for the film's failure. Kalki 2898 AD will be path breaking blockbuster and success goes to the entire team not only your Bollywood stars

My only problem with the movie was the overglorification of karna...the chariot scene shown in the end has no mention in any Mahabharata manuscript. Its only folklore..it made arjun look arrogant and karna like the ultimate hero..but in reality Krishna never spoke such words for karna...you can read gitapress authentic Mahabharata.i am not lying.

Well, Wakada is inspired from Shambhala. Concept of Shambhala a city believed to be existing in or around Mt Kailash is written fact of our history/mythology. Besides, Marvel movies also credit it back to Hinduism by mentioning "Glory to Hanuman" in the movie.

Mahabharat scenes were so fckn powerful and amazing that I was hoping Nag Ashwin makes a whole standalone movie on Mahabharat. He captured the essence of war of Kurukshetra quite perfectly. Vo scenes literal goosebumps de rahe the especially the last scene of Arjun vs Karn where Shri Krishna humbled Arjun(although that whole chariot event doesn't even exist in the Mahabharat). The only problem I had with Mahabharat scenes in the movie was the glorification of Karn when actually in Mahabharat he was a very insecure, evil and arrogant character and not a hero or a morally good character who should be glorified or idolised. I loved their artistic choice how they didn't show Shri Krishna's face indrectly conveying the message that Lord Krishna is so divine that a mere human cannot play him ❤️‍🔥👏🏼

Everybody would've targeted prabhas personally. Its 3.5 star and all because of Nag Ashwin's Vision... Actors acting especially Prabhas, Amitabh Sir and Kamal Sir.... and Visuals... The screenplay is like Brahmastra... When its good its great... but when its flat its just flat... Good is first 10 min... around 10 min of interval and climax... The movie is historically inaccurate....ashwathama had so much hatred for karna, he had so many disputes with him throuhout mahabharata a huge quarrel before VIrata yudh and on one occasion ashwathama even ran behind karna to behead him for cussing at his uncle kripacharya , really disappointed by the creative liberty taken by nag ashwin , you may write the future s you feel like but must not change the history....the point when ashwathama in the movie says "mera mitra tha vo ..."I did a facepalm and almost puked when he said that karna was powerful than arjun. Arjun defeated karna more than thrice throughout Jay Sahinta and the scene where karna protects ashwathama from arjun was so inaccurate....its clearly mentioned that ashwathama saved karna from arjun on various occasions both in Virat yudh and Mahabharata.the scene where arjun says"we got pushed back only 2 steps " and lord krishna's dialogue after that is a bullshit story created by Whatsapp University. Arjun who saw true form of God on the first day of War and realized that he's not the doer would never say see how far back I pushed karna.

Landmark achievement of being a decent enough made in India derivative of dune 1,2 , mad Max fury road , star wars, the "far future kashi" very few people would notice...looks visually similar to the far-cry new dawn videogame. You can take satisfaction in the fact that it's not made by a bollywood retard and it didn't fuck up as strongly as brahmastra. Now credit where credit is due-- at least our south Indian brothers are experimenting with some sci-fi stuff which is one of the best when judged from the Indian standards.

They should have replaced the fluff with some backstory as to what led to this dystopia setting in and why Kashi is the last city left. There were some scenes in the first half where the vehicle to ground proportions were all over the place. Prabhas should stick to minimum dialogues. The Prabhas climax reveal to me doesn’t make sense. If he is ‘that’ character, then the staff should have reacted to him from the get go. I also think a lot of AI art was used in few scenes. But, this is my personal opinion and I may be wrong. The only positives were Amit Ji and Kamal Hasan ji. I also felt the stakes were not put out properly. As a viewer, I didn’t feel the gravity of the situation. It just felt like a generic fight scene. Also, can we please not go for Sepia colour grading all the time. Also, a question for you Shan sir - Do you think this deserves a cinematic universe? I personally think a 2 part movie would be enough.

Watched Kalki on 30 June, 1st half start to bahut powerful hota hai with Ashwaththama's scene with Shri Krishna aur uske baad wala scene bhi achcha tha jahan Amitabh Bachchan ka song play hota hai O Keshava with that short animated intro of mankind's atrocities showing ki kaise humans time ke saath saath aur corrupt hote jaa rahe hain. But uske baad majority of the 1st half bahut boring, cringe aur stretched laga. Movie mein comedy aur Disha Patani ka pura character aur scenes bahut hi unnecessary lage. Aur jitna kharab 1st half tha usse 10x badiya 2nd half tha. Interval ke 10-15 min pehle se movie pick up karna start kar deti hai aur 2nd half to bhai kya hi bolun, maine kabhi expect nahi kiya tha ki Indian Cinema mein is level ke fight scenes kabhi dekhne ko milenge!! 2nd half was so fckn great, especially the whole climax that Kalki becomes a solid 8 or 8.5/10. Whenever Amitabh Bachchan showed up on the screen, he had a powerful aura and easily overshadowed Prabhas. Movie mein bilkul flaws the aur 1st half mein to kuch zyada hi the. But still it was a great attempt at making a Dystopian film. To conclude this, I would say that Kalki is the best sci fi movie Indian Cinema has ever produced ❤️‍🔥💯

I have no idea what you're saying but I enjoyed the film immensely. The MCU doesn't even come close. Several cameo appearances add to the fun. Featuring Shambhala was great since it occurs in ancient prophecies from several traditions.

Director knows prabhas , amitabh , deepika , kamal fans and addition of devotion will bring audience to theatres and make the money back , but i dont understand how all these people are hyping it without telling the real reviews. they really did good research and paid all the bloggers and youtube channels . I watched the movie today. Thank god didn't watch it in theatre. Such a crap.. no dialogue worth remembering.. background scores repetative and boring. Except Amitabh ji and Kamal ji every character sucks.. even those two are not worth remembering.. for instance we remember almost all key dialogues and characters of Bahubali 1.. even after watching it once..been almost 10 years. The director had lot of money he spent everything on cgi, sets, costimes.. and nothing on story and character building.. typical novice issue.. money corrupts and weak direction shows in every scene.. all action scenes were so bore.. 😭 I felt like all action scene were just another template-action, nothing worth remembering... They don't drive the story arc forward.. they are just there put in by lazy writing.. the writers were very bad visualisers..action direction sucks.. Copying 100 scenes from all movies didn't help at all..

Most irritating is the unwanted Punjabi background music.. The dub too is not up to mark.. Characters are saying mixed hindi english.. And the words like the 'units' bounty' 'complex..But the sets, the Mahabharat shots were mind-blowing..👍 2nd half is truely outstanding..

Mahabharat sequences were amazing.. Disha patani's character was forced into the film First half was actually a setup for the next half but I guess many parts could have been cut Prabhas entry scene was seeming to be a stylish entry at first but honestly that scene was Just going on and was not stopping and that action piece bored the hell out of me. Amitabh's character I guess is the main hero of this film Deepika did well in the scenes she was given Hindi dub was trash but u get used to it Kamal hassan creeps you with his presence that too only in 1 scene that he appears in. Overall the vision was pretty good and the execution was decent enough. The final twist was amazing too. Cameos of the 4 actor/directors were amazing and surprising and the easter eggs and some smart jokes are good too

@Shan Prasher, Fantastically judged, I felt the same, I think the character arc and personality of Bhairav(Prabhas) could have been made much stronger and unnecessary comedy shouldn't have been included, otherwise he did a great job👏🏻. Amitji and Kamalji and Mahabharat sequences were the best and absolutely changed the tone of this film to perfection. The face of Lord Krishna wasn't revealed directly I liked that, it kept the essence of Him.

I know Amit ji was absolutely awesome. One of his best outings after a long time, but one is talking about Saswata Chatterjee’s performance. This guy never leaves anything behind and always gives his 200%. He had the most screen time too. His cool villainous acting had the most menacing impact. Just don’t praise names for the sake of it. Give credit elsewhere where it’s due. No Deepika was very average in this movie.

I felt the movie is a good entertainer but fell short of being a masterpiece. My take is 1. The movie had a great potential with its story concept - blend of Indian mythology with a Sci-Fi future. But story felt shallow and disconnected at places where they traded it for comedy and melodrama. 2. Amitabh was a towering presence. He genuinely made a strong impact. Hatsoff to the legend. 3. Wish they had developed the character of Kamal Hassan in the first half (Hope they will do so in next movie). The man can be such a dominating presence if given a space. 4. Prabhas, yes, as mentioned has been the weakest link. The intro scene was definitely a cringe show. Dude is good with action but as a comic loverboy it felt more as a spoof than a serious story at places. 5. The VFX at display was much better per Indian standards but at places the quality drops. But kudos to the effort. 6. The movie tries to be everything for everyone. I wish it stuck to a coherent storyline than trying to add masala, songs and drama to play to a specific audience. 7. Unnecessary cameos - Made the movie feel like a spoof with cameos of Rajamouli and scores of others (which ofc plays to local audience), but wildly disconnected from the plot. 8. Poorly written dialogues - The dialogues at places pulled down the movie. Took you out of the flow of the story. The movie couldve been a timeless masterpiece, despite its shortcomings on budget, had it stuck to a serious storyline. Take cues from classics like LOTR, Starwars, Avatar etc. You pay homage to the characters there not the actors. Please give more space to Amitji and Kamal Sir in the next one. I feel in the end, the movie is a good entertainer, but missed the shot for being a masterpiece.
