How long do I have to train to get the Shaolin Disciple certificate from the temple?
@woutwijker73614 жыл бұрын
From what i saw in a BBC documentary you need 11 years of training and a final exam to become a monk
@sanskarsharma11383 жыл бұрын
It depends upon u ur training ur capibility capacity , taking up things n practices n training n foremost patience it doesn't depend on time but how much time u give 2 urself 4 this
@poissonplat3 жыл бұрын
you don't need any experience, you can come just for one week and pay for the certification (the certification and buddhist name doesn't mean that much)
@TrendinHitz6 ай бұрын
@@woutwijker7361 It's fake. The BBC documentary is very exaggerated and does not require a 'final' exam as they show. A very funny and honest guy who doesn't shun away from the truth is called "Ranton" on KZbin. I'd want you to check him out, as he has been there and doesn't fill you up with the media stuff that people want you to see.

What Style are these techniques from may I ask? I study Shaolin kung fu and I know there are many styles. I learn the Hung-Gar Family System and I can only find our forms here in the states. Chi Ling Chiu's system is a little different I am from Sui Pui Cheung
@ShaolinBrummen5 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam, This is North style Kung Fu. Hung-Gar Family is southern style. But like you mentioned there are many styles....

So how exactly does one become a shaolin monk
@ShaolinBrummen5 жыл бұрын
If you train hard and are open minded to learn new things you can become one.
@takenskate5 жыл бұрын
China Sports & Culture thank you for the response, i didn't really expect one but while your here. Does the shaolin temple accept foreigners or do you have to be chinese to become a shaolin monk?
@ShaolinBrummen5 жыл бұрын
The temple does accept everybody to learn about chan, buddhism and kung fu. It doesnt matter if you stay for weeks or years... ofcourse there is a difference of training or actually live there as a monk in a way of life.
@takenskate5 жыл бұрын
I was talking about being accepted into the temple by the abbot and training and living there as a monk, as a way of life

the choreography is awesome but besides the health benefits what real life applications this have????? definitely not for fighting because there are no ufc monks champions
@sotiristheod17484 жыл бұрын
It does have fighting applications. 1- you do practice punches and kicks and other hitting methods 2- you harden your body, hence hits don't affect u as much in a fight 3- through ridiculous stretching you can utilise your body more effectively and more quickly 4- stamina Training-which you undergo- helps with fighting 5- you practice the use of weapons which is useful for fighting. I understand your concerns but plain kicks and punches are not impressive demonstrations, therefore choreographies are preferred. just like kata is demonstrated for karate. Also real warrior monks really don't care about participating in such events. That's why you don't see a monk as a ufc champ. And finally some of them also practice sanda- Chinese kickboxing- which obv is useful.
