Thanks Ramon. I'm considering the Shaper, so I found your video useful to understand the potential.

This video is fantastic. I really like the way you incorporated all the tips to repair problems we will run into. You also made the video very entertaining. Great job, Ramon!

Thanks a ton for that feedback! Yeah, these thin veneers are easy to…simply bump and end up cracking em! Plus I wanted to show how easy it is to make perfect seams. 🙏🏼

The nuance here between tool cabilith, woodcraft, and results is really good.. Despite your tool you were gluing, stabilizing, recognizing issues ahead of time.

I would drill 3 reference holes, and corners in addition to the middle reference line.

If the black cactus in considered the positive and you cut it on the outside with a negative -0.002 offset, what were the shaper settings for the pocket on the blue background? I missed that somewhere in your video.
@ramonartful Жыл бұрын
It's been a while...but if I remember correctly, I kept all of the cuts at -.002" offset...pocket cuts and insert pieces. This is 1/42" thick (thin 😬) (.024") veneer so I was about .028 - .030" deep with the cut...using a 1/16" down cut spiral bit, with the Shaper Origin on 4 speed. I believe that I used the default speeds for plunging and bit travel and mostly in auto mode. You can see more of this process at another video I did on commercial veneer with the SO. first off I think that you did a beautiful job and I learned a few new tricks as well but... The National Monument called Shiprock is in western New Mexico but what new Mexico doesn't have are Saguaro cactus which are also shown in the piece. but like I said awesome work.
@ramonartful2 жыл бұрын
We can compromise. 😬 Shiprock is absolutely in the western part of the state…I can see it from where I live. And true…there are no 🌵 cacti there…it’s called artist interpretation 😬

I’ve done a lot in Inkscape but for this particular project, I worked with one of the guys at Shaper who created the files, since it was a project now available on ShaperHub. Thanks

Love your work, but wondering whether a $200 Cricut wouldn't make some of these cuts easier. ;-)

I’d sure like to see that! The Shaper Origin sure is fun to use…not sure I would describe it as hard! 😬🤷🏼♂️ thanks
