This is also brilliant. It explains why in side kick it is difficult to maintain stability in the supporting leg. The ligaments are loose. But in the kicking leg they're pulled into tension. I had no idea the ligaments were twisted from front to back - I assumed they were equally all around the joint!

It's all good - it's trial and error to make this stuff accessible but it is something that I don't know too much about, but that as a yoga teacher, it is very useful. How about going through some more examples yoga poses that use these forces (with pictures) and suggestions on how to modify to make them accessible?

Are you asking about the state of the capsule in a neutral position? It's slightly wound up with internal rotation torque.
