@kevinlakeman5043
@kevinlakeman5043 3 жыл бұрын
No, that's not the 'only reason'. For one, Shaw played mediocre teams in the finals, plus he got beat by Hakeem's Rockets, so it didn't take Jordan to beat a Shaw team. Also, we'll never know what would've happened if the Bulls had played Houston. They'd have no answer for Hakeem, the Rockets had the better bench, plus the Rockets swept the Magic team that beat Jordan and the Bulls in the playoffs.

The magic beat the bulls because grant left and jordan was out of shape. They wouldn’t have beat jordan if that was the 91-93 or 96-98 bulls. Grant and rodman made a difference, they were the defensive anchor of those teams underneath. The bulls had a good bench with Kerr, Paxton, kukic. They beat the 93 suns who was the best offensive team the league had ever seen at the time. Suns should have won championships but they couldn’t stay healthy and westpal was clueless on coaching the defensive end.

Charles is wrong. The Raptors won the championship just 2 years ago with one (1) SUPERSTAR and Others. Yes Kyle Lowry is a great veteran but he's never been a Superstar outside of his popularity in Canada. Detroit Pistons beat a team of current and former superstars in 2004 without one single Superstar on their team. Why? because the Laker's (Others) did not do enough to hide the mistakes of their superstars. LeBron's second ring (2013) would not have been possible had it not been for an Other (Ray Allen was definitely out of his prime at the time). Dirk the only superstar at the time (Jason Kidd was way past his prime) in 2011 championship versus 2.5 superstars. Mavs Others stepped up big time.

Kenny wasn't even good enough to be an Other. Robert Horry, Sam Cassell, and Mario Elie made the big plays on that Houston team. Kenny Smith was the 7th best player on that team. Dream, Horry, Cassell, Thorpe, Elie/Drexler, Maxwell, and then Kenny "the spineless boot licker" Smith.

Right but I also feel like it almost kinda proves Charles point. What was Kenny before Hakeem? What was he after? I feel like Charles would argue (if Kenny wasn’t in the room) that if it wasn’t him it would have been Cassell or someone else who’d be sitting next to them, thanks to Hakeem. Yeah but you're not considering the impact the superstars had generating easy opportunities for the "others". GS hardly doubled LeBron in that series at all. They chose instead to let him isolate and take away his teammates. Hard to get your teammates involved with defenders draped all over them. On the other hand, the Cavs were often sending 1 or 2 extra defenders at Steph, even off the ball. That gravity was opening up a lot of easy looks for the role players AND Durant.

Lowry was aging, Siakam was still up and coming, and NO ONE knew he’d be an all star the year after. And same goes for Vanfleet. Kawhi averaged over 30ppg almost a third of the teams points. @@ethancluck7507 but i think that was Chuck's point. You aren't winning without a transcendent/top 5 player. We have a few exceptions in history like the 04 Pistons or the 11 Mavericks, you could count the Raptors but Kawhi was a top 5 player that year IMO. The Raptors always got stuck before the finals when they only had Lowry and Derozan who were stars, but then they upgraded to Kawhi the next year and that propelled them to the Championship and I think that was what Chuck was trying to say. You aren't getting to the Finals or winning the Finals unless you got one of those guys or a few of those guys. You can have "others", but every team has "others". Not every team has that superstar/transcendent talent. That's why a team like the Raptors couldn't get over the hump until Kawhi. That's why no one could get past Goldent State or Cleveland for half a decade years. That's why no one in the East could beat Miami. Because none of the other teams had Lebron. None of the other teams had Steph and KD. That's why the Heat lost to the Lakers last year. They had no one who could match Lebron or AD. The Mavs were the 2nd best team in the conference and top 5 team all year and ended up as the 3 seed because of the tie breaker. People act like they were a rag tag 8 seed that miraculously won it all. That team was stacked and will end up with Dirk and Kidd in the HOF, Marion borderline, and TC being a DPOY plus some of the greatest role players ever like 6moy jason terry.

Dirk is all time for sure, but the rest of the team was role players bro, pure and simple. You can sugar coat it all you want. They had 3 players TOTAL that averaged 15 or more ppg, and Dirk was 1 of them with 23 a game. Marion averaged 12 a game, what a fucking stud. Not really. The 04 Pistons got the BEST DEFENDER Ben Wallace, the BEST PERIMETER shooter Rip Hamilton (moves without the ball), ELITE point guard Billups, ELITE defender Tayshaun Prince and an agile in and out scorer and also a good defender Rasheed Wallace. Lakers did not have a chance cause they are a newly built team. They arent used to play with each other then plus the fact that they are not in their prime.

Kenny is scared of Shaq, Shaq is a bully, and he gets in his feelings when he feels he's being clowned, i'm watching vids of Shaq getting mad, and there's one where he tells them they can't call the "HackaShaq" that anymore, don't use his name when they say it, and he bullies Kenny into not saying his name in reference to that. But he knows Barkley can take a joke, so he tries Barkley more.

I agree with Charles. When it comes down to clutch time, who would you rather have the ball in their hands and take the final shot - your star player or your role player? Obviously your star player. Therefore it’s about the star player/s that you have and how they match up against the opponents star player/s

Shaq - 28/12.5/6.3 on 59.5% shooting Hakeem - 32.8/11.5/5.5 on 48.3% shooting That's pretty close to balancing each other out. Perhaps Nick Anderson missing four free throws at the end of game 1 played a bigger role in the series going only four games.

@@leafsrule4life No, it wasn't balanced out. There's a reason why Hakeem's Game Score was significantly higher for the series. There's a reason why Shaq had a Negative Net Rating per 100 possessions for the series (Penny's was positive). There's a reason why Shaq had 7 TOs in Game 1 and 6 TOs in Game 4. There's a reason why Shaq had a Negative Box Plus Minus for the series (Shaq's was -1.9 while teammate Penny's was 5.7). I watched the whole series, the Magic were my team, and you could feel Hakeem having more impact than Shaq for the series, which is reflected in the Impact metrics. Just listing surface stats like Pts/Rebs/Asts and saying they balanced each other out is about as surface level as you can get.

@hakshustletv
@hakshustletv 3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on what Chuck considers "the best players". If you mean 2 or more players in the top 5, we can look at history and debunk that quickly because it's very closely balanced. In the 000s you had Pistons, Lakers, Celtics, Miami, Spurs, they didn't all have 2 out of 5 best players, if we widen the range to 10 then he has a point. Post-2010 that has definitely been the case for the most part; you have anomalies like Mavs & Toronto but they're the exception not the rule. Cavs, Lakers, GSW, Miami Heat dominated that decade; Mavs won 1, Spurs I think won 1 & Toronto the other meaning the other 7 times a team won it was by one of the teams I mentioned who had at least 2 of the 5-10 best players in the league.
@ashleyhalcrow5945
@ashleyhalcrow5945 2 жыл бұрын
I kind of agree but I think shaq is right. For the teams that had the best players they also have players (others) that deliver. Would Miami win without Ray Allen ? He was way past his prime but was delivering. Same with Draymond Green and Igoudala they were key others who made that GSW so great. You take one of them an replace it with another other who doesn’t deliver then they don’t win the championships
