No. KD couldn't have possibly underachieved, not when he had to face an in prime superteam-backed LeBron James, an undead Spurs dynasty that simply wouldn't go away - until KD and company put them away for good, something they *never* get credit for - and an out-of-nowhere dynasty to end all dynasties in Golden State. Not to mention Bron hopping back to a sub-elite team in Cleveland.

I think what Shaq tryna say is KD is a failure due to him not being able to lead his team to a chip outside of playing w/ the best team. Also, that KD didn’t necessarily have to do much because he already had the best players around him and he couldn’t do it w/o them, basically saying he didn’t earn his titles by hard work but just being with a team that was bound to go to the finals again be cause they went the previous year.

KD overachieved. People thought he wouldn’t last due to his frame and he revolutionized the sport as a power forward with shooting guard like skills. He has an accomplished resumes as well. But if you want to say that he has had several disappointing moments, his move to GS was weak and he needs a chip to validate his place as a borderline top 10 player of all time I agree. He is still top 15 all time that is not a failure of a career.

Bro’s team constantly 50+ wins and/or at the top of the conference after his first 2 years when he played, and he’s always been all-nba and undoubtedly top 3 by 2011-12.

KD isn't an abject failure. I think Chuck tends to just say what pops into his mind sometimes. I think what he's trying to really say is KD "failed to meet the expectations set for him". That's definitely true. KD's always gonna have 2 rings, 2 Finals MVP, an MVP, he'll always be one of the greatest scorers ever... but also he could have done more, and he likely could have done it without going to Golden State. But I suppose we'll never know now.

I don't think his career is a failure, I just feel it is disappointing because he only wins when he supposed to win. It is like if LeBron only wins in Miami.

Forget the words. What he’s saying is that Steph Curry’s offense IS his defense and russ averaged a triple double.

Objectively false. How is your career a failure if you’re good enough to not just make the NBA, but last for over decade. And I didn’t even mention all the awards and accolades he’s racked up. So wtf?

"Without pride" - spot on. That's why instead of "outright failure" it's an "abject failure", and people arent understanding that. The fact that he sits on top of those Golden State rings like he overcame some insurmountable challenge is exactly what I'd call devoid of pride as a competitor. And that's not even addressing the leadership side of things, where his career moves have implications that only James Harden can make worse. He does nothing as a leader and jumps ship when things look bad. People argue over who the leader was in Golden State, but he was never in the discussion. Draymond Green was the best answer followed by Steph and Iguodala till his spine evaporated. KD was a "hired mercenary"

I'm still wondering if it would have made a big difference with the Nets winning a chip if his feet would have been behind the 3 point line in that series vs the Bucks. The Nets could have probably easily finished off the Suns.
