I was in a bar where Neil Simon came over to me and started to chat me up. We were having a grand old time. About 5 mins later a woman walks in, calls out his name and waves at him, he looks at me and realizes that while I may be a pretty brunette I’m not the pretty brunette he was supposed to be meeting and in an entirely different voice says, “Oh, you’re nobody” and waves at his real appointment and walks over to her. CAUTION: If you make dulce de leche by boiling condensed milk cans, you *need* to check they aren't going dry. And then you *need* to wait until they are cold before opening. The possibility of cans exploding *was not a joke.* Chilean here. Dulce de leche (known here as "manjar blanco") is traditional. I have heard too many stories about flying and exploding cans as to want to hear the American version of them. Take care. Seriously. ✌

Thanks for mentioning this! You may be preventing someone from getting really hurt. I’ve been meaning to try out making dulce de leche sometime. I have a recipe that says to add vanilla bean seeds…it sounds divine!

@@CardboardMarzipan The classic way of making dulce de leche is mixing milk, sugar, some spices/vanilla and cooking that stirring for a long time until it becomes a gooey delight. The worst risk there is burning the mix. The shorter and easier way is boiling condensed milk cans. Is way easier and the result is foolproof, but there is the risk of explosion. Check your recipe very well, and enjoy!
