Thank you very much for this helpful tutorial. May I ask a question. If I want to use SharePoint Task list to setup a closing checklist. Is it possible to set a task as recurring? And when you tick the box, is it possible to see by who and when (date and time) it was approved?

Is there a way to make this read-only so that only project managers can edit the schedules? And is there a way to pull data directly from the Project Web App so project managers can update in that environment and schedule viewers can view regular refreshed schedules in the Sharepoint Tasks Lists?

With SharePoint all the automation you need will not be available. The task list is just a glorified List. If you want full project management capabilities, you have to use Project Plan 2 or 3.

Please note for long term : SharePoint Add-Ins will stop working for new tenants as of November 1st, 2024 and they will stop working for existing tenants and will be fully retired as of April 2nd, 2026. This applies to all environments including Government Clouds and Department of Defense.

This requires a proper project management app like MS Project. DO NOT try to use Excel templates. Those do not work.

One question re SharePoint Tasks - Is it possible to set up a template task list OR to otherwise easily replicate a task list so as to not have to re-create it each time a similar project arises. It may be easier to edit an existing task list (template or old task list) than starting from scratch. To provide a bit more context, looking for a project and task management solution for a high volume of projects that require the same tasks be completed for each project (with very little variation in both the tasks and the assignees of the tasks). Greatly appreciate your insight into this! And looking forward to your MS Projects video.

@@efficiency365 Thank you, Dr. Nitin. However, that appears to be a third-party software. The goal for our association is to remain within the O365 ecosystem. If outside of the O365 ecosystem, we already have access to the task boards which are included in Zoho Connect which will solve most of the challenges, technically. The challenge there is that Zoho Connect is outside of the O365 ecosystem as well. Most of our members (non-employee) use Microsoft in their firms and there is significant resistance to "new" or different tools. I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to offer a suggestion.

I understand. Stick to Zoho if it works for you. Task Management - the way you (and most orgs want) - is not yet fully evolved across the MS platform.

@@efficiency365 MS is evolving quickly. Part of what is frustrating about MS is, in their position, these issues should have been solved long ago. As for Zoho and/or MS, the trick is getting everyone involved to use it, and use it well. Here's to the future... and thank you for always taking time to reply.
