THANK YOU! So glad you mentioned children’s rights. I feel passionately about women’s and children’s rights. It’s CRAZY that, in 2025, we have not progressed to giving women and children basic human rights and civil liberties. Keep up the good fight, friend!

I think that if world-famous celebrities like David Tennant, Michael Sheen, and Sandra Bullock are taking massive and deliberate steps to protect their children's privacy, that should be a HUGE indicator to the rest of us that this is something to be taken seriously. I know most of us don't think much of it, especially when most of the people viewing our posts and content are people we know, but you never know when or if something will go viral or fall into the hands of bad players. Big celebrities know the impacts of what fame does to your life, and they know how negative it can be (especially for a child who can't always navigate the pressures of fame). We should be listening to them and taking pages from their playbooks. I would also like to point out that many child actors themselves have talked about the experience now that they are adults, and most of them don't have many positive things to say about it. Just because they gave "consent" to do it as a kid and may have even wanted to do it, doesn't mean that they should.

Since all social media vloggers & influencers are required to file taxes, I think a child should obtain a work permit before being filmed. A percentage of that income needs to go in a trust for them, just like every other child performer. There should be a limit to the amount of time they can be filmed & They should have the right to decline being filmed. Every 6 months to a year, they should have to meet with a social worker to see how things are going.

I have posted exactly 1 photo of my son on social media. It was a group photo of about half a dozen or more people, I did not tag him in it. After I posted that photo I told him about it and I was surprised by his reaction. He said that he did not want his image on the internet. He was about 14 or 15 yrs old. The photo I posted he was about 10 in it. He asked me to never post another photo ever again. I haven't. People, even children, should have the right to form their own image on their own terms. My son is 34 now. He still doesn't post photos of himself on the internet. He does not do social media other than gamer stuff (he's an avid gamer). I am glad that he was a teen before social media became a common thing, because if I had been parenting a small child in the 2010s I probably would have shared photos and video to everyone in the world. I think parents should think deeply about whether they are violating their children by crafting their image before they are old enough to understand what an image is. We are all a brand now. I don't believe that kids should be influencers. I don't have a problem with families where the kids walk into frame while they are doing some sort of DIY task, etc, because kids exist in the world. But I think making content that focuses on kids is wrong. That is just my opinion. I know there are lots of folks that would disagree

It should be at last as restricted as child acting or even more restricted. Not only in terms of amount of time filming and where the money goes, but also what is shown as content. Kids in water parks and on beaches should be banned.

Agreed. Children’s rights needs to be codified. There needs to be more focus on this. Thankyou for sharing your mistake. Way to be accountable! ❤❤❤❤❤

I love this. Leading by example. Yes, children make for cuter videos, but we need to respect their rights. I really hope the US passes some good legislation to protect child “influencers”.

Money needs to be put into bank accounts and trust funds for the children if they are featured in monetized content. My husband is very strict about this so the kids are not on insta. Just a whatsapp family group which is like a photo album.

Not quite. However, I think child labor laws should be enforced on children. Eg: many places have limits on how much child performers can actively work on a given week.

I think there's a problem with thinking that people are having trouble separating the legal but invasion of privacy and the view visible physical injury, causing part of the frankie abuse. I think people are just pointing out that it's part of the same pattern of behavior and while not as visible on the outside is just as damaging as the things that took weeks for the skin to grow back. I feel like the attempt to separate. The two is the same sort of minimizing as parents do to complain they don't know why their children are estranged or men do to get mad at women for choosing the bear.
