I do find it problematic that the US has different majority ages for different things. However, I find it even more problematic that the US allows people to have semi-automatic weapons. There are - serious - people who for good reason argue that "the right to bear arms" in the constitution was about the US having the right to arm itself like any other nation has.

The only milk many kids will drink is chocolate, so at least they’re getting some calcium. It’s still better than the kids I see at fast food restaurants with a tray of French fries that’s large enough for 3 people, a giant cup of soda and a triple cheeseburger. Oh, and let’s not forget dessert! It’s no wonder there’s a diabetes epidemic in this country. Their parents are eating the same thing and they don’t seem to care that they’re setting their children up for numerous health issues.

#1. Kids living in homes with food insecurity, & that number is growing, may only get a school lunch as their only meal in a particular day. #2. Not all diabetes is due to overconsumption of junk, sugar; or, obesity. There are 2 major types of diabetes, and subtypes of each. #3. Lower quality super processed foods are cheaper than nutritious whole foods. This is why you see these foods in schools, due to budget & palatability for today's kids. It's also why you see more junk & fast food being bought by families in poverty. You buy what you can afford, & what the kids will eat. If you're struggling to feed your kids, you want what you buy to actually be eaten & not wasted. #4. Food conglomerates have worked hard in labs to process foods in such a way as to trick our taste buds & brains into craving the chemicals, salts, fats, & crap they put in our food, for the simple reason that they want to addict you to their products so you continue to buy them. Some of the responsibility for the obesity & substandard nutritional problem must be owned by these corporations. #5. The USA has the resources to feed ALL food insecure people, be they children, adults, senior citizens, veterans & active duty families, homeless, or working class, with good quality, nutritious, low processed or whole foods; but, the politicians, especially Republicans, don't have the desire to do so, and would rather Americans go hungry, become sicker, & get poorer, while instead giving more tax breaks to the wealthy & corporations. #6. Wouldn't it be nice to get some benefits for our families from the taxes we pay, instead of watching those dollars being given to the wealthy & corporations, even as they pay nothing in taxes themselves? Stop Trump, MAGA, & Republicans from "robbing the poor to feed the rich"! We can't afford not to have a wealth tax & windfall profits tax! It's time to penalize price gouging! VOTE BLUE! VOTE BLUE! VOTE BLUE!

@@kellykat8057 : Many of the chemicals added to foods are to preserve them until they can be distributed to the consumer, and for more convenience for the consumer in preparation of the food, because the foods on their own can rot and spoil relatively quickly and the consumer WANTS convenience in preparation. In itself, A hamburger is not "junk", but when anything is overdone, it can be considered "junk".

~19:29 While that is true, some hugs and kisses between the parent and child (or other relatives) is also necessary for everyone's emotional and mental well being. If it is not practiced when the child is younger, it can be awkward when the child grows up and begins their own romantic journey. There are two outcomes with little physical closeness as a child: being a total slut or being totally frigid to any touch.

Sounds like I should give up on the teenager learning to clean up after herself. She shoved me so hard I lost my balance and almost fell to the ground the last time I asked her to clean up after herself. So I guess its ok if she puts someone in the hospital. I give up. She isn't mine, we just live in the same house with her grandparent. I'm just tired of the abuse.

at 3:50, the bit about hobbits, Hobbits come from the Shire. I am descended from the BAGGINSes from the Shire, south Yorkshire, in fact, in England, and have the hairy toes to prove it. I believe they were a little swarthy, but only B&W photos available, and may have been tinged with soot from the factory chimneys (George was a steel-smelter, after all), but originally may have come from Eireland, so may have carried fair and red-haired genes.

However, it may not say so, in the books but Tolkien himself, said he created LOTR to give Britain its own unique legend. So yes, Hobbits are British, at least but quite probably English. The Rangers are descended from the Scottish (being from the far north of the land) and the Elves are the Fey of Celtic legends. All very British.

Hear my prayers Lord please give me the strength to overcome these obstacles because I’m losing hope. 💕

They were literally answering a question on Twitter, genuis. And if you think being parented doesn't give you good reasons to have opinions on parenting, then you don't get to criticize any doctor, lawyer, politician, or any other person doing a job for you who doesn't do the exact same work as you with your unasked for opinions.

The section on parenting had some thought provoking opinions but much of it was BS. Yes we were all children once but if you haven't experienced being a parent then that doesn't begin to cover anything. You were a friggin child, your memories are colored by your lack experience, undeveloped emotional and intellectual quotient. Who are the best parents, people with no children.

You don't have to be a doctor to recognize malpractice when you see it. If you have to dismiss other people's opinions in order to defend your precious little feelings then I just hope for the sake of the kid/s that are giving you this unearned sense of superiority that their other parent has some emotional maturity to pass on.
