Hi, Jeri. I’ve been wanting to send you a message since I saw the video about your studio. In the background was a picture of your mother. I have that picture on my iPad, and I jumped when I saw it. Your mother had quite an influence on me several years ago. I think her niece had posted a picture of your mom making hats for homeless people. That was something I did at that time. I took the pattern the niece provided and made something like 64 hats for handing out at Thanksgiving here on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. I hope it doesn’t sound like bragging, because I loved every minute of it, and always credited your mother and the niece with having an effect even among homeless people here in Miss. Your mom’s values traveled far and wide. 😊. You must be very proud of her. I used to watch your videos several years ago, and am glad to see them back.

Oh Carolyn, That is wonderful and mom would have been so tickled to know that other people around the country were making her hats! I know there are many others, I've heard stories over the years and it certainly does bless me to hear about it. Thank you so much for sharing that! Thank you for being here! Sending hugs, 🩵

Oh that is so interesting.... I have been a teacher since I was 8 years old at day camp, trying to show others how to make a lanyard! LOL And then of course when I had my bead shop and all the years in between, Girl Scouts, School projects, adult education and on and on. I try to hit on all the senses to get people to learn. A little harder to do on YT than in person. But you just can't stop me! Thanks for leaving a comment and for being here! 🩵

This is my first time seeing one of your videos. I've always dabbled in sewing but raising my kids I never had time to actually do any projects. I made curtains for my baby's nursery one time. Lines to make a place to put the curtain rod and sewed the edges. I tinkered around with cutting fabric into squares and sewing them together. But I am a perfectionist so I aggravate myself trying to not be perfect about everything. Not in the sense that everything has to be perfect but as I'm doing it if I'm not doing it right I keep fidgeting till I think it's right and I frustrate myself. Not really meaning to make this a long comment. But I'm really in a frustrated lonely place. I'm watching videos like this really help me. I don't really doubt have real friends. My boss is 85 and he's my best friend. I lost my husband July 13th, 2022. It was only 53. He died from medical neglect. And I'm having a really hard time. I walked away from my house. I couldn't go back as I saw him die there. My two grandbabies saw it happen as well. It feels like yesterday... I'm so depressed. So much time has passed (599 days) and I haven't accomplished much. With the help of my boss, I found a house and currently trying to move in. The only goal I had~trying to use his clothes....every piece I could..to make small lap size memory "blanket" cloths for myself and the family. Finding your video gives me such comfort. I wanted to use the seams and belt loops, snaps and etcs. Never saw anyone doing what you show here. I love the wedding memories too. This feels so so personal and legacy the way you honor your relationship with your mother. That's what I want! He was a biker so I was trying to make a theme that would honor him. If you have any ideas of what to do the colors/materials would be: shirts~ black, orange, grey's,red, denim. Jeans~black, blues. Leather from his chaps/vests and jackets. Maybe putting some chains in there like what he had on his wallets and buttons from jeans and shirts. Also any links to sewing the leathers. Thank you much 🥹

My mum passed suddenly nearly three years ago. I've always regretted not keeping her clothes and doing something similar to what you've done, but I wasn't thinking clearly at the time. I do have approximately 60 of her handmade hankies with crochet trim done by her. I'm thinking I could back them and slow stitch them to add interest. I could even eco dye them.

I am very sorry for your loss.... And of course YES! Why not take a few and do just that! You could use it for a cover on a journal, or fill a book with them, Or make a heart shape pillow or or or... better than keeping them tucked away in a box! I forgot to show you guys the pillow I made with the elastic bands and random pieces of mom's clothes, next time I'll pop it into a video! 🩵

The blocks your are making using your mother's tee shirts and your fabrics are such a beautiful way to remember her. Those patches you made into a book cover looks like a fun project as does the needle book. Kathryn Chambers videos are like visiting with a friend, as are yours, there is always a balance of knowledge and humor.

Hi, Jeri! I’m a new subscriber, I commented on your last video, but I decided to watch some previous ones and found this particular one that I really liked, specially because of the quilt you’re making with your mother’s clothes. My mother passed away two years ago, she was in a nursing home since 2018, because she had a severe psychiatric disorder that I didn’t have the skills to deal with (there’s no more family, she was divorced from my father), and for a series of unfortunate reasons I didn’t keep any of her clothes. I only have her bedsheets, which are white. I would love to do something with them, but I don’t know what, because I have no means of fancy dyeing or painting them. Anyway, it was so nice to see how much you treasure your mother’s things. By the way, don’t worry about the light on your glasses, it’s so imperceptible 💙💛♥️🩷🤎💚🩵❤️🤍💜🧡

I'm so happy to see you again Alexandra! What part of the world do you live in? You can do lots with sheets! It can be the background for embroidery, applique, stitching and only limited by your imagination! I hope to see you again! 💛
