You may be surprised.
I was struggling with the last part, the insertion of the pages. You see I was struck with a new thought and I had to try it, but I was having an off day and things went south. It spiraled from there and I realized I had to share my struggles with you.

Oh my gosh, I can so relate and am so glad that you shared this beautiful insight to your thoughts and feelings. I think it was serendipity that I just found your channel at the ripe age of 83 and struggling with similar feelings. I seem to want to create and learn more and more and am grateful that my hands and eyes are still able to do my quilting and slow stitching, sashiko, knitting and playing around with fabrics and threads. You have helped me open up about my struggles and I thank you.....

Gratitude is indeed a great thing. Finding who you really are explains so much and aren't we fortunate to be creative makers! Just a little thing I have figured out, at 82 - don't laugh, but every time there is a full moon, my "peculiarity" goes on overdrive. It used to cause me a great deal of stress, now I am grateful for all of my interests to support me.

I am a 77 year old quilter and embroiderer. In my younger days I made my own garments, did crochet, and did smocking. I struggle some days too. Your stitches are exquisite - like my mom's handwork. My mom made her own clothing by hand as a girl and young woman (she could not afford a sewing machine at that time.) I lost her treadle Singer in Hurricane Katrina which was a heartbreak. I enjoy your videos and appreciate your sharing.

Oh that would break my heart too... My mom made me take sewing lessons when I was 11. I've sewn, knitted and crochet my whole life. My mom made over 5000 hats for the homeless the last years of her life and she lived to 98. Amazing woman. Thanks for being here! 🩷

So about those people that leave rude comments. Just pretend they’re an elderly auntie that said that to you in person. I had several aunties that were just crotchety old busybodies. When they would criticize me I would say Oh, ok… and wait for their back to turn to roll my eyes and do it my way. Usually people that leave negative comments are not your tribe. Just roll your eyes and go on.

I believe your video went right to my heart. 59 years ago today my father died. I was alone in the house when I found him. My mom had died 8 months earlier. I had to do everything. I called our priest, our funeral director, our doctor, my married brothers, and the family members. They all came in and no one gave me hug or asked if I was ok. After all these years I don’t understand why it affected me so much today. To top it all off I had to make a million calls to get financial aid for my medications. I have APF where the lungs close slowly making it difficult to breathe. My assistance fund, which had been giving me free meds ran out of money so I had to find another place. Luckily I found a place that will give me my meds for $60 a month. Sure beats $3000 a month. I also take 12 more meds. I found your video today and I just felt so much better. I love that wall hanging behind you. I contacted the woman and asked about it but she didn’t remember which one it was Today she started one very similar and easy. Keep up the good work, you are such an inspiration. Sidebar-- I got to go and pee. lol. Hugs

I want to thank you for turning up on my computer every day, I, like you have the same diagnosis and find that when things get in my way and I get irritated I turn to sewing, gardening, quilting, crocheting or a mass cleaning, but I always find that someone is ready to criticise … it’s a shame their negativity is all they have to give I rather watch you now, you slow me down some what and I realise your voice has such a calming effect, it’s just like sitting with a friend sharing a cuppa I appreciate you every day and adore your stitching

Jeri, I am grateful for you and these vids that you share. I am turning 67 in a couple of days, I do a lot of different crafts, including mixed media, collage, knitting and the occasional sewing project. I was going into the nail salon yesterday for a pedicure as I am going on a trip this weekend. I absolutely could not find my words to say that I had an appointment for a pedicure and ended up gesturing to my feet. The receptionist thankfully figured out what I was attempting to communicate. So yes I identify with some of the struggles you describe. I am happy to watch your vids every week, your whole concept of aging gratefully and creatively is wonderful and I appreciate your encouraging words, let’s keep going and have a little chuckle at ourselves when we can 😊

Jeri, you're great. I love this video. Yes, I struggle finding words sometimes. I notice as I rewatch my videos before uploading, wondering how much I want to edit out, half a second here, 30 seconds there. But, I don't do it . Leaving it in, warts and all. I do have to say I have 12 years on you. I turned 80 last summer, and what I can say about that is that each day in every way I am more and more grateful for this life and my loving wife and for the time I have and for the art I make and the art that she makes -- and especially for the times when my own art pieces absolutely delight me. Aging gratefully. My mom seemed old at 80, but I don't feel how she seemed. Also, I do also have to say that I completely envied you your tiny stitches. I loved that video of the seven different ways of joining fabrics and saved it to my slow-stitching playlist. You keep rockin' it out, girl. I'm so glad you're making videos again. -- Barbara Clark

I have just recently found your channel and find it very liberating. Yours reminds me of Jude hill. I was once told I wasn't making correct stitches that would never make it to a quilt convention. I told the ignoramous that I had no intentions of competing with anyone as I do that enough with myself. I'm getting better at not competing. I vowed not to go to another retreat nor will I join a guild. Too persnickety for my blood. I don't make many things but only for my grands and family who appreciate my thought and love for them. I have always said, I'm perfectly imperfect. I really like your work. People who make comments like tat are just plain rude and probably belong to the stitch (aka)quilt police. just block and delete.

I hear you about the challenges in aging. I will be 70 this year and noticed I have slowed down a lot. I am not as motivated to learn and try new things. I like to keep my crafting simple, not start complicated projects,, and I lose track of my supplies, or even what I have in my stash. Thank you for your videos. It is heartwarming to hear that I am not the only one confused, surprised and saddened about the changes that come with aging. In other videos you have mentioned Jude Hill and K3N. I love their work too.

Keep it as simple as you can. Most of my projects are easy, not overcomplicated, and use what you have on hand. Gather supplies and put them in a basket this way everything is ready when you sit down. I get them too on my channel - about my hands, about music, about how I should do something and I also don’t get why they feel the need to do that. Me thinks someone who gave you that comment about small stitches commented on my video! Or maybe they are just the same kind of person. My highest viewed video is the only time someone left me a mean comment. She said "I'd die if someone saw my messy stitches" or something like that! I mean, who does that? They don't understand our art and it affected me way longer than it should have. We need to just shake it off and keep going, like you are doing. I'm looking forward to watching the bonus video.

Hey, it's not easy making uneven stitching. I was showing a sewing-friend some Boro stitching in a magazine that I admired, and she looked right at me and said, "Oh, you could NEVER do that." She'd watched me do a lot of precision hand-piecing on my son's wedding quilt, so she was basing her observation on that. And, yes, I can do that (the uneven stitching), but I have to work at it!
@JeriBellini

@@Judith-wq2jp I was a serious hand quilter back in the day, even won ribbons for my tiny stitches... But now, it's all about just stitching away and I do not use a hoop anymore. it's awfully hard to get them straight and even without the tension of a hoop or frame. So I'm having at it and LOVING the process. Thanks for your comment! 🩷

I recently discovered your channel and really appreciate you and your approach to creativity, aging, (I'm 73) and life. I watch many KZbinrs and many are so apologetic about noises, interruptions, lapses in memory, mistakes etc. probably because they've experienced negative comments like you've had. My reaction to those negative people is 'get a life!'. You content creators don't have a director, producer, cameraman, or stage manager. You take the leap, put yourselves out there, and of course all your videos are not going to be perfect. I enjoy the reality of your creativity, small stitches, big stitches, sidebars and distractions. It makes me think as I stitch along with you, that we're creating together. As another wonderful KZbin creator, k3n, says: you do you! Hugs❤️

Hi Jeri, I Love you, I love your style! You dont have any shortcomings, youre quirky, unique, innovative, in short you're a sewing Einstein. You've really inspired me to sit quietly in the evening after a busy day, and unpick that day using your slow stitching methods, Kawandi I have yet to try, but im buzzing at the thought if it ...atm im about to start your needle book today, and those slow stitches help me to process my thoughts, and make sense of things again. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart, because I've had a lot going on in my life, both recent past and historically, as too have most of us. I originally was flicking through KZbin Jeri, and I saw your Bisconnu video, I've seen them before and i loved the shape, but you made it look so enjoyable and so achievable, so I started it and completed it in no time, but most importantly I enjoyed the process! My stitches were irregular, but I love that it looks home made, my daughter was looking at it and she said "sell that"! I'm making things for a craft fair at Easter so we were looking at what I could take. But I'll never sell that. It's far too precious. You see before i met you, I only related slow stitching to English Paper piecing, which is fine, but a little too (by the book) for me, and a bit time consuming before you see an end result. With your projects, they take shape quicker, and the pieces are more unique, the process is more interesting. I'm now making things and gaining inspiration to share these with my granddaughter! So thank you for giving me Jeri, what an older sister would've given to me, or an aunt, or mother, grandmother, the greater worldwide adage of sisterhood 🤗💕I hope you accept my hug to you, I feel blessed to have found you and I hope truly that you'll have many more projects to share with us all. Sending love and hugs from the UK, please ignore the haters, the negativity, I've been bullied and harassed and am a DV survivor, and have come to realise that you only need to listen to yourself Jeri! The inner beatings of your heart, and the loving memories that you're creating and remembering are all that matters. I look forward to all your videos! Take care of you hon please ❤👏🏼🤗

You inspire me greatly, Jeri. I can’t believe some people are so rude. That’s interested to hear about your ADHD. I met my now husband when he was 43. After we’d been together for a few years, I suggested to him that he could have Asperger’s. Cut a long story short, he has and he has embraced. Giving it a label has helped our relationship - I can see where he’s coming from now. I can’t stick to one project for long- I call myself a creative butterfly! Flitting from one thing to another. You should see my craft room - it started with a sewing m/c and now I’ve got every creative product under the sun. Currently into card making and hand sewing (when I’m watching tv). I think we’re all on the spectrum in some way. Who decided what’s normal anyway??!!! I think you’re amazing - carry on sidebaring!!!! X

Have been a caregiver all my adult life, very stressed, mentally and physically exhausted, used up and burned out. I lose my train of thought, miss-use words and in back pain 24-7. I'm so glad I found your channel. At 68, I can easily lose my train of thought, my mind wanders often and some days my tongue gets in my way when I search for a word. As creative and artistic people we have so many ideas running through our mind it's hard not to be a little scattered. Small stitches, large stitches, ugh who's to say what is the right size, as I see it if I am stitching it the stitch is the right size. I love the quote 'You do You' from Kathyrn from K3n.clothtales, those 3 short words speak volumes. I enjoyed the video in it's entirety, it was like sitting across from a friend and stitching and chatting together.

I saw you for the first time today and enjoyed your topics, techniques and instructions. First let me say you look very lovely and “with it” in this intro, as well as years younger than you claim. Secondly, I empathize completely with you and respect your zest for life despite your fears for the future. I’m your fun house mirror image..creative, fabric lover, and diagnosed with ADD at age 50. Now I’m 72 and can see my decline more often, though I usually rally at times every day. Focusing is always easiest when sewing, planning projects, or writing stories. I admire how you kept your composure in the intro; I cried a bit for both of us. Also, Sidebar is the perfect interjection during your videos. I knew at once what you were doing and appreciated knowing something more was coming, I should just wait a bit and you would clarify. Finally, the dismal state of life today seems to give licence to cruel, unthinking comments from every strata. Are most people really kind? Maybe fewer❤ than we imagine. I think your stitches are the perfect size. Bless your heart.

I can totally relate to your issues. I am in a period where I can hardly think at all I'm just so tired. I still want to stitch, but am too tired to even figure out what to stitch. I was so happy to find your channel. I can just do what you do, cuz you keep it fairly simple. I joined Marion from Marion's World for her 2024 stitchalong, but she VERY quickly got way past what I wanted to do. Then I found K3n and started with her current series, and have been enjoying it, but some weeks she does something I have no interest in doing. I am getting things ready to join with your series on different stitches, and am really looking forward to it. But instead of circles I am gonna do hexies. So you are definitely an inspiration to/for me, and I am very grateful for you and what you do. Thank you for all your encouragement.

Lots of people are doing the hexies, just enjoy the process.... and if you're really tired, try to prep some work so you can just sit and stitch. It keeps me awake on nights that I'm just exhausted but dont' want to go to bed yet. 💜

I guess when you make videos, you become open to the thoughtless, inconsiderate comments. But you don't need to justify yourself. You really do an amazing job. So thank you.

I dont know if you will see this comment. But I so get this video. Yes I have many of the characteristics of what you mention. And i am trying to deal with ageing, children (always a mom) grandkids, and elderly fiesty mom. I am a creative. Still trying to figure out my place in life at 61. Reflecting on mortality. Maybe my place is just to create good moments in the lives of those who deserve a place in my inner circle. Make stuff for the sake of making. Gifting kindness. And thanking those who have been kind. Your kindness today made a difference. To those who criticize or leave such comments to you is a lack of something in their lives. The need to be better, right or somesuch need. If you read this know you made a difference in my world today.

People are weird. Slow stitch is an interpretation of your own. There is no right or wrong. Jeri God bless your daughter. My grandson is super smart for his age. He just turned 7. The teacher he has this year has no business being a teacher. The assistant principal either. He’s just stated on meds and helps him focus. And has a math teacher that is working ahead with him. My struggle is I’m dealing with grief. 4 yr anniversary of loosing my mom and coming up in April will be the one yr anniversary of loosing my son to an ex girlfriend. He was found deceased in his apt. The only thing I’ve been able to be creative with is crocheting. It helps me slow my mind down. Your daughter will be so good because she knows the feeling. God bless

Oh Eva, I can relate to loosing mom but not to loosing a child, that has to be the hardest struggle ever and my heart goes out to you. 🩷 I tell Brian, he struggles with anxiety, just keep moving, just keep moving Eva. It's all you can do and one minute after another all of a sudden you are thinking about what you're doing and not your grief. I don't pretend to be an expert on this but it has worked for me with my chronic pain and my grief. Sending you lots of love and healing hugs today. 🩷🩷🩷

Hi there, I’m almost 61 and live in the north-east of England. I came across your KZbin videos from a lady who had been making spot bags And I’m wondering whether she got her inspiration from you. She mentioned your name on her KZbin channel, and so therefore I thought I would take a look. I was amazed at all of your projects and lifestyle that you have. I have a small corner in my spare bedroom that I use for my crafting. I would love what you call a tiny house, and like you say in your videos you are so blessed and grateful for this. I love all of your up cycling projects, And I tried to do a little bit of up-cycling myself. There is a place in England called Kendall and it has a shop called CoolCrafting. I believe the owner is called Sarah Peel. She has the most amazing books called “Luna Lapin and friends “. She makes these characters, who all have their own clothes, and they are such a joy to make. 10:40 They are made from felt, And whilst they come in kit form, I like to use a Thrifted or charity shop wool coat. You get such a great results from this.Anyway, I just thought I would mention this as like you I get such great satisfaction from trying new things and it really does help with our mental health As we get older. I just wish the time would slow down a little it seems to pass so quickly these days. Keep going with your videos please, you really are an inspiration to us all. I love all your little stitches and tricks that you share with us. And I really want to give the spot quilt ago. I’ve got a few things on at the moment and once they are done I’m going to give it a try. So thank you so Much for sharing this with us. You are such a positive person I admire that in you as I’m sure so many other people on here do. When I’m in my little craft corner I now pop on your little videos, and listen to what you have to say whilst I’m doing my little bit of crafting. I live alone with my little Maltese dog, and Your videos keep me company whilst I stitch. So thank you for this. With every good wish. Christine

So good to see your pretty face again after so long. I just found out you are making videos again. So happy to subscribe. I remember my grandmother and her quilting buddies and how important small stitches were to them. The more stitches in an inch the better. I remember when she got to where she could not make such small stitches anymore and how this affected her feelings about her capabilities as a quilter. So, it was very funny to me to hear that someone was complaining that your stitches are too small. LOL I also agree that while the "thing" makes some things harder it also brings ideas in abundance. My daughter also has this, but as you said it also makes her so creative, and she is amazing. Since I lost my husband, everything is a more of a struggle. I am still struggling to find my creative flow and right now even the time to try. Hannah is getting married and moving to NM in June, so between helping her with that and helping my parents as they are aging and have been needing quite a bit of help for about the last 6 months, I have been just in "get through the day" mode. Things are a bit easier now and I am hoping to start streaming and making videos regularly again. Creative endeavors have definitely taken a back seat to getting the necessary things done each day. You know how hard it is when your body won't let you do the things you need to do as easily or as fast as you would like. I am living there, but I am able with the Lords help to get the important things done to an acceptable level. Blessings my sweet friend.

Oh Lisa, I did not know you lost your husband, I am so very sorry for your loss. It is wonderful to hear from you and I am so happy to get this newsy note. Please do create as you are able, it has saved me in so many ways. I'm glad for your daughter, I do remember her being extremely creative! and also sad she will be moving away from you but maybe trips to visit will be super fun! I have to make time to visit my kids or I will never see them, they are so busy with all kinds of things. It is a blessing that they have full lives but we do miss being around them on a regular day to day basis. Yes, praising Jesus, for the strength to go on!!! Sending hugs... 🩵

We all have a “thing” or more, 53 here so dealing with aging and realizing both I and my 20 year old daughter both have ADHD among other names for other things, not going to stop us from being creative, after all, that’s the thing that we are good at! Thank you for your honesty and sharing this video ❤

There are already 139 comments so I’m sure I’m not going to say anything that hasn’t already been said. I’m so glad I watched this today. Thank you for being honest and caring with sharing your struggles. No one is perfect and art is about YOUR expression of it, in whatever you want or can. Some people can only feel good when they put down someone else and they should just move on, like you said. I love listening to your rambling conversation. I find it interesting, informative and usually witty and fun. Pooh on the hater’s. ❤

Oh yes, I struggle, my 60 year old sister struggles and many others have shared this with me. We have too much going on in our brains, there is too much going on in the world. We are also have to remember how all of theses electronics operate. It’s very confusing. You don t worry about your circles so don t worry about your memory❤️❤️❤️✝️. Also if you put your hope in Christ life will matter more

Okay I have to stop your video and comment before I forget what I needed to say and then I will continue on watching. First of all thank you so much because to those of us who are aging we are just now noticing and realizing things about ourselves that we wish we would have noticed years ago. This community is truly in this together and I appreciate it. Also I see you as inspiration not as someone I need to follow exactly but someone to get the idea from so that my own creative juices can flow. Saying that your stitches are too small it's just flat critical. Small stitches are your thing if it's not someone else's thing then they need to do what makes them feel good period, End of story.

Jeri, thanks so much for sharing such a difficult topic to talk about. I too didn't know that I had ADD until my son was diagnosed and he informed me sometime later that he recognized I had it too. It explained so much about my life. It helped me realize that my struggles made perfect sense. You and I are perfect just the way we are and who we've become as a result of our experiences. Judgement on stitch length? and the way you do anything is a reflection of them not you or me or anyone else. It's art there is no right or wrong there is just your art the way you see it. Keep moving forward I'm the same age as you and face your struggles daily as well. And we are just fine the way we are. Hugs for you. 😙
