@@zeroceiling perhaps you don't see them studying and then turning into control but I do and that's okay if we don't agree. But the title speaks about someone who is attacked in Florida and I live in Florida and I wanted to hear circumstances into which this took place. Most likely the Atlantic. Usually the person is swimming at dusk or Dawn. I suggest a change of title would be "increase of shark attack over the last decade" barely spoke about FL.

Lol, seals can absolutly gather in florida. They may not stay but they can definetly be there. They dont hunt people, they follow the food... sharks attacking people are more often a mistake than intentional. Which is likely the reason people survive attacks, if a shark wanted to eat a person or wanted them dead i dont think there is much you would be able to do. Especially if you are now wounded and just floating in the water waiting to be saved.

If the food source disappears over perhaps a decade, then bravo zulu is absolutely right, the sharks will simply die off. And as a matter of fact, you pretty much as confirm this with your comment about oceanic dead-zones due to overfishing. If you are somehow trying to tie shark attacks on people as some kind of a Darwinian adaptation strategy they are evolving to, then you need to settle down and possibly demand your money back for any course you may have taken on the subject.

Talk about moronic statements! There is an explosion of shark population because there is a moratorium on seal and sea lion hunting. They are THE primary source of food for sharks..and yes..populations of sharks have increased because of increase in their food source..that’s how balance of nature works! The odd, unfortunate..or at times dumb person accidentally gets in the way and is mistaken for food. Lions don’t go into the ocean to get dinner…and sharks don’t seek land-dwelling creatures like us as a regular food source either.

Sharks usually go after humans because their silhouette is close to that of a seal and with floaties on they look like turtles to them. While 2 guys are filming and were fishing... Turns out the guy I think his name is Simon Nellist pretty tall guy he was 6'5.. Well anyway nothing was found of him... Shark had to be extremely hungry to polish him off like that.. viewer beware if you do actually see the video.. it's still on KZbin I just checked can't send your video links without getting deleted... Very sad he lost his life ..I remember hearing about it on the news earlier this year I didn't know they actually had footage right after the initial strike until he was fully consumed.. rip sir as you can tell the video speaks for itself , and still bothers me..

I do have to say though, when that thing came up again and all you saw was the big fin…and then Simon gone…pretty much eliminated any illusions I may have had about sharks not wanting to eat humans. The really silly part about this is the shark in Florida was probably a bull shark which are known for attacking humans, and on the great white's a few years ago of the coast of CA, a Great White was attacked and killed by a couple of killer whales, and at the end of the attack the whale's were munching on the sharks liver and for the rest of that year the Great White's stayed away even though it was a area with seal's and the sharks come there every year. There needs to be more research on what in the liver will drive them away from places that people go, and possibly find sounds that mimicking of killer whales and put underwater speakers broadcasting the same sounds and keep the sharks away.
