Mine seems to get overheated in the motor and then literally stop working even when I turn the power on. So I keep thinking the vacuum burned out and then 30 minutes later I just happen to try it again and it works brand new again. I feel like sooner or later it's just gonna stay dead completely but have you had that issue? And if you did .. what can I do about it? Thank you 🙏🏼
@ModernCastle Жыл бұрын
@@tonyfuri9693 I've not experienced this issue. If I did, my first action would be clean everything I could in the machine. If it's an overheating issue a good cleaning with a rag + compressed air usually can fix it.

I noticed you had the brush rolls on for the bare floor tests. You can turn those off for that you know.
@ModernCastle Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's correct. You can turn them off. We probably should have turned them off in our tests.

@Modern Castle yea they would've done much better if you turned them off

My last 2 Sharks were of the Navigator variety and when you lifted the canister portion away you could still use the base with the rollers as a super low profile mode. I could get under my couch without adding any attachments. All they had at Costco when I went to replace my old one was of the Rotator line and when you lift away the functional part of the vacuum is just sitting there unused. Also not having to push the weight of the canister section is easier on my hands and wrists. Not sure if the Navigator you showed here did this or not but for me this is the main difference of these models. For this reason I totally hate the Rotator that I have. Not being able to use the main vacuum base with the detached canister in your hand is totally stupid.

I have the rotator lift away pet pro model & I can remove the canister portion & use the base with rollers to get under very low furnishings.
@MarkUnique Жыл бұрын
That's a Powered Lift Away model, as opposed to just Lift Away, and not a Navigator vs Rotator thing.

I also don't understand his scoring method since it seems random and Vacuum Wars does these kinds of tests in a better, more organized way
@ModernCastle3 жыл бұрын
The cleaning scores are the percentage of total debris removed based on our 12 standard cleaning tests. moderncastle.com/vacuum-cleaners/ - if you look at any of our tests here you'll see the full data for all vacuums

It looked like the hose length significantly varied between the two models yet this was never addressed? When cleaning with the lift away this is an important variable that will make a big difference to ease of use.
@ModernCastle2 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly the hoses are exactly the same length.
@AndreaRaissa Жыл бұрын
How do you lift away but leave the main cleaning device, to get under beds?
@ModernCastle Жыл бұрын
The lift away is intended for cleaning with the attachment / hose / wand. So you'd life it off the vacuum and then use one of the smaller attachments to clean under beds.
@reaperreaper50984 ай бұрын
You need to get a powered lift away Shark to use the main head that way. I believe the Apex, Vertex, Stratos, and Power Detect are the only ones that have powered lift away.
@nonelost12 жыл бұрын
Where do you push the “lift away” button on the rotator?
@ModernCastle2 жыл бұрын
It's one of those red buttons in the middle of the vacuum, at the same level as the canister, but on the vacuum frame itself.

Since when are $300 vacuum cleaners considered "budget-friendly"? Especially when you can get a Hoover WindTunnel 3 with just as much suction power for about 120 bucks.
@ModernCastle2 жыл бұрын
The cost with super cheap vacuums is they basically create a bigger mess than they could ever clean up. Most cheap vacuums don't utilize a sealed system, and therefore fling dust and debris around your home. As a result, we generally have just stopped testing cheap vacuums. But I'm not sure what you're talking about $300....the Navigator is $165 and the Rotator is $279.
@joshuaewalker2 жыл бұрын
@@ModernCastle So, $279 plus tax doesn't count as $300 to you? And I'd hardly consider the WindTunnel3 Pro Pet Max or whatever it is a "cheap vacuum". I spent $600 on a Dyson and barely liked it. I got the Hoover on sale for a little over a 100 and it's great. You tell me, is it a sealed system?
@ModernCastle2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuaewalker Wind Tunnel 3 is not sealed. Note this in the product description... "Carbon and HEPA Media - filter made with HEPA Media and odor-absorbing carbon layer" "made with HEPA media..." That is marketing speak for "not actually a HEPA filter". The Wind Tunnel 3 is $140. At what price point would you consider a vacuum to be cheap? If that's not it, I don't know what is.
@joshuaewalker2 жыл бұрын
@@ModernCastle Did you seriously delete my last comment?! Or did you just turn on comment reviews? How petty either way. Long story short: Hoover WindTunnel 3 High Performance Pet Upright (typically 239.99) bought for 109.99. Sealed system with a true HEPA filter. Value vs. cost compared to the Shark is enormous. Actually capable of being repaired and finding parts, unlike the Shark that will have to be thrown away as soon as one part breaks.
@ModernCastle2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuaewalker I did not delete your previous comment. Comment moderate has always been enabled on this channel, though I rarely look through that queue. In any case, we can agree to disagree. If the WindTunnel works for you that really is all that matters. In my experience, the Hoover and WindTunnels I've tested have all been pretty bad. It's not a vacuum I would ever recommend.

i have the rotator. I want to use on my hard floors. it’s kind of roll hard on the floor. is that normal? Do i need to adjust the floor base or something?

That's normal. There is a hard floor setting, but there is no adjustment to the floor base. It's not exactly great for hard floors.
