Thank you :-)))) I love them, too - absolutely awesome creatures :-) Would love to dive in Australia (in a cage!!) to see them in natura. I have to admit I am a hobby scuba diver, been in the red sea, the atlantic and the mediterranean sea a couple of times - there I had a lot of fantastic opportunities to observe these wonderful places. This makes it easier to paint underwater scenes in a more realistic way :-)

Incredible painting. Your talent and skill is amazing. Why do you start with an underpainting of acrylic instead of just starting with oils?
@brennerfineart4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much :-) I always do this sort of an underpainting because I don`t want to worry about the white of the canvas perhaps shining through the layer of oils that I put on. I work a lot a la prima, I don`t glaze that much. So I have to make sure that the first and very often last layer of colour is exactly what I had in mind and is not disturbed by the white underneath.
@RobertF-4 жыл бұрын
@@brennerfineart Thank you. I see what you mean, that makes sense and it seems like a really good way to do it. Your artwork is amazing and your channel is very interesting. Take care.

@jendavis9185Ай бұрын
The design of this apex predator is remarkable. If you think about the colors of most sharks they’re darker on top and lighter on bottom, but the Great White Shark is a greyish blue on top, so if it below you in the water it is difficult to see, and the white below is difficult to see above you.. I mean it’s hard to see until it’s too late.
@brennerfineartАй бұрын
Yes exactly - that is the reason why this Apex Predator looks like it looks. I always ask myself...how does nature KNOW what colour it has to give a Great White (and all the other animals as well) to make it kind of invisible in the water?! Did it develop over time based on the success of this or that example which had a lighter and a more greyish colour on its body?! This is SO remarkable :-))))

Hi there. It's me again... Great video as always. Today I have a question about reference images. Where do you recommend getting reference images from for your art. I was looking online and the prices for some of the highest quality images are ridiculously high, especially on sites like Getty images. As an artist, how do you recommend sourcing reference photos and is there a way to possibly avoid paying a lot of money to get pictures for your work that you aim to sell
@brennerfineart3 ай бұрын
You can shoot your own reference photos (that`s what I do pretty often) OR you can go to free picture websites (like pexels.com) where you can get really great reference FOR FREE :-)))

would you put a coating after it dry?
@brennerfineart4 жыл бұрын
When the painting is completely dry I usually put on a coat of varnish - this protects the painting not to bleach out from sunlight and it mechanically helps to avoid scratches.
