Hey, nice mention on Mint recycling company. I have been checking on them recently. Very nice that US boards market will have a solid player backed by innovations. Bioleaching is not new, but it is a thing. I believe scrap pcb boards will be a commodity soon, maybe a backing for digital asset. This way , the usage of crypto tech can be productive...
@murlbailer37554 күн бұрын
I take off everything that I think is worth recycling. That includes all copper,brass and aluminum. I never sell unstripped copper wire. Since I am strictly a micro stripper I feel it’s to my advantage in the long run 👍. Where I live one of the most scrapped items is big 📺’s. If I get it before the maintenance man (large apartment building). I think you’re videos are worth watching 🤣. I love talking things apart.

The one with all the ics I would have cut the screen off and put it in mid grade but it looked to have the old style mlccs by the ic chips that have a potential for palladium and silver
@sharkscrapper4 күн бұрын
This load is a mix of low and mid-grade boards. Question: Do you refine the MLCC's yourself or sell them?
@MtnManScrap4 күн бұрын
Hi Shark! Where I’m located, LG boards go for $.10-.15/lb local, and the same yard will take the small Cu transformers for $.45/lb! I feel it’s worth the couple seconds to pluck off those transformers for the extra return.
@sharkscrapper4 күн бұрын
If I had the same option I would do the same. My yard only takes them as shred. So until I can find other arrangements leaving them on the boards works to my advantage.
@MtnManScrap4 күн бұрын

I wonder if Mint would be open to more smaller scrappers that put together full gaylords for them, maybe 1 or 2 times a year. I could probably put together 2-3 gaylords each time if so.

I used to rip off the transformers from the low grade boards. But i noticed the electric motors/ transformers shifted in price to be less than low grade boards. Not overly long ago it was reversed. It makes it hard to know if i should pull it or leave it. I will have to keep monitoring the prices.
@sharkscrapper3 күн бұрын
It is real work to stay on top of pricing. Especially when some yards still play the we've got a secret game and aren't up front with their pricing.
@Plains_Scrapper3 күн бұрын
I suspect the buyer for the motors changed or they changed their business practices. Because they got picky on how clean (no plastic or circuit board remnants)the motors needed to be about the time the price dropped.
@sharkscrapperСағат бұрын
That sounds like they either got a new buyer or their old buyer got a lot stricter. I've heard the same from other scrappers.
@jr-a-cat4 күн бұрын
That is one way to bump up the price of transformers and not have to touch them . Box them up and ship them out
@al99294 күн бұрын
I've been meaning to share this info for a while now. First here. Precious metals prices are just beginning a period of extreme price appreciation. This will resukt in all these cb's going up in value exponentially, as they are priced as residual value at the margin. Imho, it would be prudent for scrappers of all stripes to learn more about cb grading/processing as cb's become sought after by even the lowest level scrap collection. Good luck scrappers. Start storing the stuff that pays poorly if you can.

If you're going to make such a claim and use my channel to promote it you owe my viewers facts and a basis for your recommendation. What is the basis for your forecast?
@al99293 күн бұрын
The basis for my claim is that the current financial system in place in the western world is cracking and about to collapse. What this means is that gold and silver will need to be revalued much higher. Order of magnitude higher. JP Morgan testified to congress about a hundred years ago that 'gold is money, everything else is credit'. Well we are in a debt based collapse - just beginning. It is a big subject. Maneco64 is the best place to learn more. I post this only trying to help. A lot of people will suffer in the next few years. If a few suffer less, that is great. God Bless.
@al99292 күн бұрын
It is a shame that you decided to delete my response. I had nothing to gain or loose by posting. I was just trying to help. Not sure why you were so incensed by my prediction for very large increases in values of pcb's over the next few years. Anyhow, I do enjoy your videos and I do learn a great deal from your sharing, so thank you for that.
@sharkscrapper39 минут бұрын
While I absolutely agree that physical gold and silver are essential investment assets. The fear of monetary collapse has been used for a very long time to get people to buy physical gold and silver. Certainly some countries have seriously mismanaged their economies and their people suffered run away inflation as a result. No industrialized nation is immune from errors in monetary policy, including the US. I started paying serious attention to monetary policy, investing, and precious metals over a decade ago. From the very beginning people were saying the collapse of fiat currency is just around the corner. Yet here we are. My real concern is that if the world's fiat currencies do collapse, we are going to have a very serious societal challenge. I do believe gold and silver will rise in the future. Likely not exponentially as that would mean some very serious problems in the world order to include massive global conflict not seen since WWII. If this does happen I'd much rather have my gold and silver in some form of recognized coin or bullion. PCB's would still need to be processed to get the value from them.

I’ve been told even with no visible gold. There are very fine teenie tiny gold bonding wires in the middle of ICs I need to buy a microscope to get some 1st person confirmation 🔬 😅
@sharkscrapper2 күн бұрын
Yes, some IC's have gold bonding wires the size of a hair or smaller. That's why many scrappers take all IC's regardless. But not all IC's have gold. I haven't found a definitive method for telling them apart.

As a hobby scrapper I openly weep when I see the toroids, aluminum heat sinks, etc. go in with the boards...but I understand I'm a hobby scrapper and I don't do it for a living so time is on a different scale for you and I.
@sharkscrapper4 күн бұрын
Time is indeed a very different thing for us. It warms my heart to read that you recognize that. When I first started as a hobby scrapper I also removed as much as I could. I took pride in all that I removed. When I decided to go pro, the math changed significantly. We need both hobby and pros in this effort. Thank you for being part of it and keep up the good work.

How does the shipping pan out? That has to cost a lot to ship a Gaylord box.
@sharkscrapper4 күн бұрын
It's actually less per pound than shipping 40-50 boxes or USPS flat rate boxes. The last two Gaylords I shipped were about $0.40/lbs as opposed to my usual $0.75 - $1/lbs when shipping a 40-50 lbs box by UPS.
@patrickbirdsey69404 күн бұрын
@sharkscrapper hope they are paying good for low grade that don't leave but about 0.10 a pound after shipping less seeing you have the weight of the Gaylord and pallet
@sharkscrapper31 минут бұрын
Even if I only make $0.10/lbs in profit after shipping, it's better than the zero I'm getting locally 🤣 Sometimes the only profit is in the margins in the scrap world.

@sharkscrapper4 күн бұрын
Absolutely not. Chris and I have an outstanding relationship and will continue to do business for a long, long time. It is not at all uncommon to have multiple buyers. This is business and diversifying one's revenue stream is very important for long term success. The important thing is to always be honest with all your buyers. In the grand scheme of things, it's a small industry - secrets and untruths don't age well.
@ScrapFatherScrapSon3 күн бұрын
@@sharkscrapperwholeheartedly agree! Competition makes businesses thrive. You HAVE to shop around so to speak. I go to multiple scrap yards and tell them so.
