Not to mention that the app blew off after the episode aired, when the company still has $2m from investment laying around you do not need another investment considering that what she's asking is $600k an do not eclipse that initial investment she owned.

Korean foreign national comes and gets two degrees in the US socialist academia system, one in business and the other in Chinese, which is easily several hundred thousand dollars in tuition, THEN proceeds to come out with serious capital, no debt, and cash in the bank... She also speaks English with a Chinese accent (that's not Korean). I'd be interested to know her familial roots because one of the most common ways Chinese spies operate in the US is exactly this scenario. They recruit promising candidates from Chinese families in other countries and fund them, meanwhile A LOT of money, technology, patents and information are going back over to China in exchange. It's not cloak and dagger, it's out front and open. The meditation thing is just a vehicle.

I mean obvious getting the exposure from the show is given. But to say she didnt value the sharks at all is not true. Just because she doesnt need their money doesny mean she doesnt value them. I believe she wanted the exposure and obviously the contacts and ability the shark could bring with a deal but she just doesnt value them that much. Dont forget that these are sharks, if you watch the show youd notice they always want to feel valued, it's not so much what something is really worth its about them feeling like they are valued. For instance if someone comes in with a super low valuation but with decent numbers then negotiate with the % and make it seem like they give in to the shark, the shark wouldve bought it, provided they're already interested. Then again there are other factors like the person presenting, sometimes you can pull off doing that, without the shark calling you out for lowball offer only to raise it a little and all. I think it's not fair to say that she doesnt value the shark, because there clearly is a value, just not the one the shark wants. The sharks often dont do deal if they dont get the offer they want, even if they actually value that company higher, because they would never lower their offer and look like their begging for a deal unless it's a business they really really want. The same goes with people coming in, if your business is doing okay and you dont have shortage of money, you already have some upper hand against the shark, so her valuing them less is appropriate.

Oh please. She offered what her last round of investors received after having continued to grow the company. It was a fair starting offer. Completely BS comment. If they don't want successful start-ups to come on the show, don't let them on the show. Is a core tenet of the show to make money for the sharks or to be some charity for down on their luck start-ups? Doesn't need to be mutex, but certainly the former needs to be the foundation of the show.

The market is already saturated with much more high-quality apps like Headspace and Calm, to name just two. And she didn't bring a unique proposition to the table to differentiate herself from the pack. In fact, her plan to enlist celebrities is exactly what Calm has been doing aggressively for the last couple of years. I tend to agree with Mark, although he was very harsh in his appraisal, that she was mainly on Shark Tank for promotional purposes. I mean, she has 2.8M in the bank so the Sharks were right to ask: what do you want us to do? Finally, I think it was unprofessional for Richard Branson to throw water in Mark's face. Debates in the Shark Tank should be settled with words.

She’s obviously just there for exposure. A lot of people do that. It’s a strategy. I’m sure she’s benefited from people who felt bad for her downloading her app and subscribing for premium content. He is right though, when people like that go on there for publicity they are taking the spot of a business owner who really needs capital.

She didn't violate any rule. If they want to filter out "gold digger" fron the show, they should look at their incompetence first for not able to do that before allowing her on the show. If they don't have any way to do that, then it's fair game. They got played.

I think you misinterpreted. Originally she was asking for $600k for 5% which is a $12m valuation. The sharks then offered $300k for 10% each which is a $3m valuation. She then counter offered for $600k for 6% ($300k for 3% each) for a $10m valuation. To be fair they were kinda lowballing her with their offer and she was not willing to come that far down
