I was a brewer and I remember reading the article on how they were able to achieve blue beer (it's actually extremely hard because beer is naturally yellow so trying to make it blue makes it green usually). Anyway how they did it was to brew a nearly clear beer using nearly all rice and almost no barley (i think something akin to a zima malt beverage as a base) and then the blue color comes from a spirolina(?sp) (a type of algae). No fruit is used.

It's very impressive how you and Chiaki switch between English and Japanese so fluently and effortlessly.
@Triferus
@Triferus 4 жыл бұрын
It's pretty cool. It took me four years of learning German before I could switch between English and German without much effort. I've started playing around with Japanese and I can't imagine how hard it is to actually become as fluent as her, or vice versa.
@asit6947
@asit6947 4 жыл бұрын
In India, I live in a big city and it's important to learn 3 languages at least. So once you're fluent in the language you switch between them effortlessly without even thinking. We also substitute words or entire sentences from other language if we feel that you can convey that particular thought better. But we have been doing it our entire lives so we don't put much thought into it. I imagine it would be really hard for a monolingual person.

How’s the Japanese goin? How much would you say you’ve learned in 9 months? I’m seriously contemplating.
@ZeepDr
@ZeepDr 3 жыл бұрын
@@thomasinajefferson9971 It's still going strong! I am learning on my own, so it is a much slower process than it would be if I were taking a class or learning it in a more immersive setting. I am working through the textbook called Genki and it's been good enough so far. There are sections in it that require "pair work", which I can't do on my own (so if you have a friend to learn it with that would help with those parts and keep you accountable too!), but other than that it's kept me on track to taking the Japanese N5 test within the next year or so! I supplement Genki with duolingo and lingodeer exercises that somewhat force me to do *something* with japanese every day, even if it's 5-10 mins to keep topics fresh. I would not recommend these apps as your sole learning platform. And I listen and watch as much online content (like Japanese commercials and japanese-speaking youtubers) as I can. The toughest part in learning on my own has been (1) speech and listening practice; it reeeaalllyyyy helps to have someone who is either learning with you or already speaks the language (like a tutor or something) to work on these with you, and (2) maintaining motivation; there are times where I've been in a "slump" and I try not to beat myself up about it (I want it to be fun after all). So when I am feeling less motivated, I turn to channels like Sharla's, Chris's, and others' to remind myself why I am doing this. Personally, I really appreciate Japanese culture and would like to live and work there for a period of time in a post-doctoral position or something. Everyone's reasons for learning Japanese are different, so to maintain motivation I'd recommend having something around to remind you why you're doing it. All in all, I'd say the hours poured into it are 100% worth it. Yes, it's extremely hard, and yes, it may feel unbelievably daunting at times, but if you set reasonable expectations for yourself and your progress, then the challenge can be fun! Let me know if you have any other questions! I'd love to help in any way I can. :) Cheers!
