I have one too, what I do is put in for 45-50 seconds with a small cup of water in the middle to steam it. Prevents it from drying out or less likely to catch on fire. Once I do that 3 times flipping it inside, outside and inside again, I get a plastic shower cap and put it on top of the hotheads to keep the heat in longer by another 10 minutes.

I was JUST going to ask if wearing a plastic cap on the outside of it might keep the heat longer! Good to know it does

Do you pour the water into the hothead cap or you place the cup of water on top of the hothead cap while it is in the microwave?

I actually made my own Hot Head cap because I love to sew and i didn't think I could justify spending $30+ for a heat cap. Ya'll, just save yourself the trouble and buy it. It took me about 2 weeks to finish and its SOOOOO tedious😫 I'm proud of the way mine turned out, but I wouldnt do it again lol

Same. I made mine, it was a pain tomake and in the end too bulky, I ended up buying one for 13€ 😂 It was definitely a waste of time. Loll

How did you make it yourself ? Did you follow an online tutorial??

@@nailahclarke9142 Zoe posted one that's good. The one I followed was posted by a curly haired Irish woman who I just noticed took down the tutorial she posted and is now selling them herself lol can't knock the hustle, I guess.

I am soooo glad I found you. Most hair channels are of people with 3c type hair. I have 4c with 4a and 4b thrown through out it and I love your honesty of not fully knowing what to do with it. I started my natural hair journey 2 years ago this November and I am still trying to find products that my hair likes.

I’ve had my hot head for almost 3 years now and I have a discontinued style called ‘pink damask.’ I don’t do a wash day without it!! Personally, I microwave each side for 1-1/2 min and I’m good for 30 minutes but I DC 2 or more hours. Definitely gonna get another during their Black Friday sale.

I got one of this today. It came with a shampoo massager thing, 3 foil caps and shower cap. All for the amazing prize of $19.99. Sweet deal and I love it! The shampoo massager it incredible also. And yes mine is reversible as well and I used it right away.

I'm sure you have heard this a thousand times but you are BEAUTIFUL. I'm the only natural in my immediate family and I've heard so many offensive things since I went natural. I have a relative who thinks mixed kids are beautiful and that their parents "smart" to have a child with someone of a different ethnicity. I've heard this person say that ugly Black men/women need to have children with someone of a different ethnicity to give their child "a chance". I have a friend who has two Black parents and waist length hair, the relative refuses to believe this person is 100% Black because in their eyes, Black people can't grow long healthy natural hair. I noticed that I started to care about ethnicity. I began to subconsciously believe what I heard. I had convinced myself that there was a 'mixed person' look but there isn't. Also, I love my thermal cap. I'm able to deep condition my hair and multitask...study, clean the house, watch you on KZbin... Whatever

Don't listen or believe any of that crap! That's exactly what it is: crap. Black is beautiful all on it's own

Also Fallen angel, all mix race people do not have loose curl texture, that's a mistake for people to deliberately make kids with another race for that purpose!!!. A mix race person like myself and joy el can have afro hair. I saw that recently when I was in California in the grocery store there was a mix race guy who hair was a light color afro not loose curls and you could still tell that person was mix.. Being mix race is the luck of the draw genetically which will show in your phenotype. You never know what will show physically. I know in my family on my mother side there multi RACIAL and there are different shades of people and different hair colors., from skin color, black, brown, olive and white, hair color black, red, blonde. Loose curl like my mother, straight and wavy hair like others in my family on her side and my hair a mix of my mom curly hair and my father afro hair who was African american , I fall between both of them leaning more on the afro side., a afro mix type of texture.
