I came from a small town where only 35,000 lived at the time. On the other side of the river was village after village. Before Apu’s wedding he is looking for work. I would like to disagree with you. Mau be on short term basis you are right. On a long term basis Sharmilaji did a great service to Hinduism. I didn't think she really left Hinduism, if that's what you implied. Just took a name, which was necessary to establish her right to inherit the Patuadi property inching the famous palace. Her son and two daughters and a few grand children have the Name, but they are totally Hindu in spirit. Just last week her daughters and grand daughters were offering puja and posting in the media. "JOY BABA VOLANATH". They never post anything relating to Muslim faith or muslim society. In fact, not a single member of Pataudy family identify themselves as Muslim and there has not been any marital relationship with any Muslims with any of her children. No Muslims person has been able to secure any place wtin the Paaudi circle since Sharmilaji became the family patriarch, after the death of Mansur Ali's mother. It may bring comfort to you to realize that within the next generation there will be no signs of any Muslim identity and heritage left for Pataudi clan and they will pretty much dissolve within the framework of Hinduism. So you see Shatmilaji did a great job of totally dissolving a powerful Muslim family's identity and heritage. This is a big achievement for Sharmilaji and a notable gain for Hinduism. Regards!
