When Den came back in 2003, he was fantastic. Den vs Phil was exciting! But in 2004, the writers just didn’t know what to do with him so they turned the character into the lowest, most heartless person imaginable. Den back in the 80s was by no means a saint, he had his fair share of dodgy moments but he was still likeable. He was never THIS heartless.

Problem was Leslie's real life antics that led to his departure. They assassinated his character intentionally with the aim of making him as hated as possible so that when he got bumped off (again) viewers wouldn't miss him too much. It's sad but an unfortunate necessity.

Andy hunter always had respect for pat den wouldn't mess with him rather pick on pat who andy cared for good on gangster showed he had feelings for pat as a friend

Den was out of Andy's league he already messed with him when he conned money from him at the bookies Andy was small fry compared to Den and Phil.

Den had more respect for Pat than Andy did, when Andy was slagging her off in the Vic six months after this, Den stood up for Pat and chucked Andy out.
