One of my all time favs. Sharon Stone co-produced it. Sam Raimi of Evil Dead, Spiderman, The Gift directed this. Sharon paid Leo's salary personally to have him in the film. Crow's first American film.

Initially, I thought she was miscast for this movie. Instead, the film and Stone's performance were pretty good. Hackman, Crowe and a very young DiCaprio were excellent as well.

To use the two westerns in the same sentence is a shame. Tombstone is iconic. THIS one here is a failed cheap attempt to mimick "once upon a time in the west". A shame to the film industry. Clever professional actors and actresses making money out of a rubbish plot and production.

Sad that she was the weakest part of this movie. I found the line where Hackman's character says "You're not fast enough for me" more accurate than any other line in the movie. Her character's reply "Today I am" was just laughable in the context of this movie.

The henchmen load their guns sooo many times in this movie, it has become all I notice anymore. I realize that the director wants to show that gun is loaded and ready, but every time they load their gun it either implies that the gun wasn't loaded to begin with or they just like popping rounds out and reloading them. Drives me nuts!!

When I watched this film back in the 90's, this was the scene that ruined it for me. Up until this point, Ellie (Sharon Stone) is only interested in killing Herod (Gene Hackman). Now she's blowing up half the freaking town, with shards of wood flying probably hitting townspeople everywhere. The townspeople hate Herod just as much as she does.

Stupidest, most unrealistic story ever. Her first shot makes a nice clean hole visible in shadow, (because the sun at 6 pm is just right) but he doesn't feel it, and doesn't move. Her second makes him do a back flip. Uh huh. Angry Sharon is not sexy. Goes to show big time Hollywood actors will do anything for a buck.
@misterkami22 ай бұрын
There's so much wrong with the shadow thing; the sun is at his 9 o clock when they start their duel at 7:22 and when he's hit at 7:43, it's behind him (he didn't turn to the right, if you check the position of the hat and gun on the ground) Also, if he really didn't move at all, her shot should have come from the location of the light spot on the ground, aimed through him at the sun to make that possible. The movie is entertaining and I'm willing to suspend my disbelief.. but things like this (and the super late explosions that also might have wiped out half of the innocent townspeople) do make it difficult to do so
@paulwhite67452 ай бұрын
Also, the idea that he would have time to scream between the gun being fired and the bullet reaching his head is ridiculous.

The whole movie is ridiculous. That's why it's called fiction. In this western universe people occasionally get blown back from dumb shit. Same universe Django unchained is in. I remember that white lady getting snapped back like she took an SUV to the chest.
