Look at the faucet itself, see if you can read a manufacturer name in it before you go to hardware store. Mine happened to be a Prier faucet screw head totally rusted and water leaking from behind handle. Handle was ok. Now that I know brand I can look for kit at hardware store. Also vasoline on screw threads will help stop corrosion should you ever have to remove it again. Or white lithium grease. PB Blaster great stuff but didn't work in my case nor WD-40, let soak and resprayed several times now down to cutting off handle as you did. Then try to remove again. WD 40 now had white lithium grease with a folding nozzle so you don't lose it. Works great on garage door rollers. For the most part, stays where you put it. Has a little too much pressure. Watch for blow back. But it did silence my horrendously squealing door rollers and hinges. Safety. When drilling into metal parts, it's common for the bit to catch and spin the part. Thus possibly injuring the person. In your case I'm not sure how you would clamp the part and increase hole size. But a word of caution should have been mentioned here. I'm all for anyone's success and getting likes. I looked for several fixit vids before finding yours. Which was closest to my problem. Yours was IT!

I wish I found a brand on that faucet! I tried. You are totally right about the metal drilling. Great tip in the vasoline or white lithium grease. I did not know that. I am going to pin your comment! Thank you checking the video and thank you for the information.

@@ThatFixItGuy I have one just like this. It has a metal screw in it to. Unfortunately it has rusted. My handle is good currently however I have an internal leak which might mean I might have to destroy the handle to fix the faucet. If you happen to know the handle part number and or the screw thread and or pitch I would like to replace mine with brass providing that I can get it apart without stripping the threads. I have considered using a little bit of heat destroying the handle, but it would preserve the threads. One trick someone taught me with a rusted bolt is to give it 3-4 good solid whacks with a hammer. Not to hard on a faucet as it is smaller, but sometimes this will help to dislodge the rust bond.

Very helpful. Gonna head on over to the hardware store and see if I can find a universal handle. Thankfully I can tell already that the screw on the spigot isn't stuck so I shouldn't have as much work on my hands as you did. Lol. Thanks!

A replacement handle kit may work for you. You may also to a small hardware store instead of a Home Depot or a Lowe’s.

For such a seemingly simple repair, and getting the same replacement handle and not having it fit, this is the first video that has pretty much confirmed that it's not me. It's just not really all that universal.

Hey! I noticed you found a can of PB Blaster! Nicely done! That stuff will work some wonders for you. But it does smell a bit. Smart for shutting off water, or attach a hose to drain from area to elsewhere.

I think that you may want to pick up a new stem and packing the next time at plumber store. That looks buggered. Guess the last person probably messed it up and fouled it beyond repair. Welcome on the blaster note! Just place paper towel around area so drips don’t stain.

Oh yeah. It came so recommended I had to buy a can. I feel it worked wonders for this job. I am going to do a review of a few different penetrants in the future I live a little too dangerously with the water at times! 😆

A quick and easy way to remove those rusted handle screw is to spray some "Blaster" around the screw and wait a minute, use a socket, comes right off.

for all that work putting a new handle on why not just find a replacement valve of the same size and type and just unscrew the whole assembly and replace it while leaving the body of valve in wall? then you have all new valve and handle without ripping apart wall

I just needed a temp fix till I could fix that. Then that temp fix stripped! Lol. Now I am using a spigot key
