Amy and Sydney made an amazing work with her scenes. Powerfull. touching.

This remains one of my favourite novels and series! Amy’s acting and forming a character is perfection, and I remember thinking back to Sydney’s scenes here whilst watching ‘Euphoria’.

It's a fantastic show. She only has a few scenes, but her character definitely leaves an impact. Didn't recognizer her at all in Euphoria.

I watched this on release and had no idea who she was at the time. Didn't occur to me until I looked her up after watching Handmaid's Tale.

Did adora ever visit her? I feel like she wouldn’t and if she did, she would rub it in camille’s face.
@rachel23 жыл бұрын
the scene is in the next video, adora visited camille once and brought roses (ironic right?), but got mad at the front desk and slammed them on the floor. alan just handed her the flowers, not much of a visit (that's what it infers) with the thorns all cut off because of camille's history and it being a psych hospital. In the book, adora actually visits camille (camille was in the hospital for 3 months in the book, not a few days like in the show) and she was fake crying and acting like she cares about camille, but that was only a show for the doctor, probably as a way to disprove anything camille might've said about her upbringing that would make her look like a bad mother (the book never indicated whether or not camille actually opened up to the doctors/staff in the hospital as camille really kept things to herself due to her being raised by adora). I don't remember if her hospital stay was brought up again in either the book or movie- it might have been brought up in the argument scenes, but I know it was not brought up in a caring or "how are you" way, as adora obviously does not care and her background (from the typical old money southern rich upbringing and her past which is explained more thoroughly in the book) is to sweep things under the rug and never mention it again.

@@LJONeill1997 It's not what a psych hospital/ward looks like from my experiences. This is more of a stereotypical version compared to what they are really like. They aren't that bad tbh and have helped me overall (along with other treatments)

@@rachel2 I'll add my two cents, from a West Australian perspective. You've probably only been to private mental health hospitals. The public ones are... Hell. The private ones are like a mix between a private hospital and a nursing home: plain, functional but relatively nice. Mostly single rooms, bathrooms either private or shared with one other person. Akin to a hotel room. The public mental wards smell of piss, vomit, sweat and shit. They are occasionally shattered by muffled screams of madness, windows are covered with grills to prevent suicides, doors are locked. Wards are shared between many people, mostly schizophrenics or manic bi-polars. Shared bathrooms have locks that can be forced open. There's an absence of sharp, unnecessary objects. The mental ward featured in Sharp Objects looks more public but its too nice, plus she's asked for insurance so it must be private. Its odd they sleep together, not even separated by a curtain. Its secure (the doors lock, plus they can take emergency inpatients) which means, in Western Australia, it would be public. No private hospitals can take secure patients, can't take suicidal patients, can't hold people against their will. My friend committed suicide just hours after being released from Alma Street (public mental hospital) after she'd attempted the night before, Ruby Nicholls Diver, she was 18. They're shitholes. Staff don't give a fuck, they're openly contemptuous. The private ones are better but still useless.

@@skullsaintdead That's an interesting perspective. All hospitals here ask for insurance, if you don't have it, you have to pay for the bill out of pocket. Also when you go to the ER for a psych-related issue, they will mostly send you to a private hospital; I haven't heard of many people getting sent to a state-run hospital. Even in private hospitals, they do not lock the doors in case someone has an issue. In one hospital, they even cut the top of the door in a slant after someone tried to hang themselves. All the rooms were double rooms, I haven't been in a private room or seen a private room being offered. A couple times I was there, there were screams all night by certain patients who had psychosis and extreme violence and anger issues, who even smashed the walls and pictures on the walls, so it can be a mixed bag- just depends on where you go. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am so sorry about your friend- it's clear that the hospital failed her when it was obvious that she was at risk.
