Also works with the VC-H810!! Thanks so much for that video! I had the EXACT same problem on my VC-H810 and couldn't find what was wrong. It worked with most tapes, but some older ones wouldn't load. I checked mine according to this video, and although it doesn't disassemble the same way, it's pretty similar. The motors are the same model, but the harness that holds it, and the broken plastic part are different. Still repairs the exact same way has this model! Thanks again and hope this can help someone else!

Reminds me of the Panasonic K-Mechanism VCR's of the early-to-mid 1990's which had issues with loading motor bushings (they would crack and slip on the shaft under the worm gear) - I used to just order a new loading motor + bushing as a single assembly (several models used the same type) and never considered gluing the original part. Some of the units with this problem were not mine and customers wanted reliability back then. Once again you did a simple fix at virtually no cost with no extra parts or special tools needed. If only all electronics repair jobs were this easy!😇

You could order just the plastic part on its own , I still have one in stock 👍

Those cracks around your left thumbnail look very sore. I get them too in Winter - called "Rhagades" (Google is your friend) Thanks for the instructional video on fixing a crack (Rhagade??) in a nylon gear 🙂

This happens on the Samsung SV-5000W. Different design of the chassis, but name general fault with the cracked gear.

Well done working again :-D When you were talking about re placing heads, i remembered when i had an accident with a vcr. I was cleaning it and a thread from my sleeve caught one of the heads, oh hell 😞 Being stubborn i looked around my old junk and found two head chips but not identical to the originals. After hours and hours of messing with the chips to get all the angles as close as i could guess with just my eyes. It took hours, but it worked perfect and played any tape, I was utterly amazed. Now there was one thing i didnt know, the azimuth was plus and minus 7 degrees. I didn't know anything about the plus and minus, i had guessed right, so so lucky lol. Sometimes a fluke happens lol. 100% true. I did have good eyes when i was 20, 57 now. Sorry about the long woffle :-(

Thank you, When I was younger (in my mid 20's) I could see the + and - azimuth of the video heads with my eyes, now I have to use a microscope. I am 56 and still trying.

6:43, Yes, this item is returnable back to Costco for a full refund with a receipt. Then Costco disposed this unit into dumpster.

I do still have the receipt (somewhere), I think I will keep it though since it works again, and I cant purchase a new one any longer. I think Costco put the kybosh on unlimited returns in the early 2000's, only 90 days now. I used to do warranty repairs for them, and so many customers would just return an item instead of having it repaired.
