Reciprocating Saw blades are easily given a new life whether you break them or they're just dull. I've sharpened some of these blades close to 50 times!
With a stack of dull wood blades I can do them in 10 to 15 seconds a piece and they work just as good as new.
Lenox Metal Max cut off blades I use to sharpen/cut these.
These are around $12-16

I had 2 other brands in the same price range and the batteries wouldn't last more than a couple of uses. I got the Black and Decker kzbin.infoUgkx84IcU5pbZd1Qrz8u4-YRLmJax7kdRi7B because I have a bunch of their other battery powered tools that are great and it was not a disappointment. I've used it for over an hour straight doing some demolition and the battery was still working great when I finished. It's also smaller than the others I used which makes it easier to use for longer periods and the performance was as good as my corded saw.

Trying to resharpen is not worth the effort. Generally, the blade has been bent a time or two, and you also have to reset the teeth.

I can honestly say after 30 years and at least a half dozen sawzalls I cant recall snapping a blade at the base ,,never the less this was a damn good video ,,I have a really hard time tossing my old blades ,,I would take a small file to them on the job site in a pinch ,,I remember a long time ago having some 10 inch blades sharpened and asked if he does SZ blades ,,he laughed at me like I was nuts ,,I never went back thanks for posting

@cornfusedatbest6693

EXACTLY. Seldom do I throw away ANYTHING unless the wife bitches. I had a garden hose that lasted about 2 1/2 years, ..one of those shrink down so you can stuff it in a tool box. I took the rubber hose out and made my own rubber bands, any size. I use LOCTITE super glue - NOT the gel, and it works pretty good.

Thanks Guys. I'm surprised by the people who comment that are mad someone would spend time, albeit 30 seconds sharpening something they see as disposable. I hate throwing money at a problem and would much rather waste not want not.
@YerBrwnDogAteMyRabit
@YerBrwnDogAteMyRabit 7 жыл бұрын
sixtyfiveford Those people are probably just mad at everything. I've used a ceramic hone (butchers steel) to sharpen and resharpen a utility knife blade when cutting tons of cardboard. you should be proud of yourself for not having a disposable mentality. Thinking like that just sends more money out of the U.S. and to China.

Saw sets can be found at auctions, flea markets and garage sales for peanuts. Most people don't have A clue what they are or how to use them. A fine file can be used also. Takes A little longer and A vice is handy for holding them steady. I used to save them when tradesmen tossed them away at work. I worked in the maintenance department and we hired construction companies for our remodeling. Now that I'm retired I miss the free blade's.

I was glad to see you put the blade in upside down. Most people say you can't run them like that. After forty years in construction. I use this in the field all the time. Put them in my pocket put a sharpened blade on and move along. When I'm back in my shop I'll sharpen a bunch at a time. Each blade takes around 5-15 seconds when I have a pile. In under 3 minutes I have a dozen razor sharp blades ready to go. Even if you buy garbage $1 blades that's $240 an hour I got paid to sharpen them.

Hi Moe: I noticed your Die grinder has a clear plastic guard on it. I got a die grinder without a guard...never had one. I'm wondering whether I could pick one up and where would I look for one. I never seen them in DIY box stores such as Lowes? If you know where I can, drop me a line. I love your quick fix videos...some of them are so simple yet I'd never would think of it. Thanks, Broome

It looks clear in the video, but it is metal/chrome. I actually bought this one from Home Depot 20 years ago for 20ish bucks.

Yeah, I've been looking for one at auctions here and there. Just haven't found one that wants to join the fleet.
