Sharpening a Single-Bevel, Partially Serrated Tanto Knife with the Work Sharp Knife Sharpener

Here is a step-by-step demonstration of how to sharpen a rather difficult knife. It's a single-bevel, partially serrated tanto folding knife made by CRKT (Columbia River Knife & Tool). I'm making the job easy by using the Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpener. This was shot near the beach in Ventura, California. The train passing by is the "Coast Starlight," an Amtrak train that has traveled the 1377 miles between Los Angeles and Seattle since 1971. here in 2020 - watched this video a bunch because i own this exact knife. in the end, wasn't comfortable free handing it so decided to reshape to 25 degrees using the guide. worked great. the bend in the tanto is a bit rounder now but super sharp everywhere. need to get the serrated area a bit sharper. love the work sharp and it did a great job with this blade.

Ha... This is the reason I avoid serrations at all costs... Complex sharping. Just got this sharpener a few days ago and sharpened everything I own and love it. Going after the steak knives next!!!!

That's a CRKT "Stiff K.I.S.S." single-bevel tanto knife, designed by Ed Halligan. I think I bought it at Big 5. But you'll see it online on many websites.

Awesome! I have a Ken Onion Kershaw blur, which is a partially serrated tanto. I love the serration for cutting tough nylon or hemp rope, but it is showing it's age from use. With such a high quality steel, and that blazing fast opening assist, I just can't force myself to buy another with all of that useful steel. Thank you.

Same here...slightly different blade though. I have two Cold Steel Recon Tanto blades. The first is about 20 years old or a little more? Second was purchased because I lost the first, then of course within a week of getting the second blade, I found the first. Love these blades. My 20 year old blade has a little wiggle in it (it's a folding pocket knife), but still great steel and an excellent blade. I think it's AUS8 or AUS10? There's better metal, but this is still my favorite knife.

Grrrrr!!! Chisel edge not single bevel!! It actually is not a single bevel knife! The crkt fixed blade you showed (the dragon I think) is a true single bevel (or chisel grind) one side of the blade is completely flat. On the crkt m16 I think it's called is actually a v grind or saber grind. However, it has a chisel EDGE. Or in other words, a single SECONDARY bevel but not single bevel. Sorry to rant, helpful video other than that
