If you get to it .... making something like this for lawnmower blades would be awesome. I'm going to look at your plans and see if I can come up with something. I am looking for an easy way to beable to sharpen my lawn mower.

For lawnmower it is easy to sharpen using a dremel without removing the blade from lawnmower.

Easily one of the best "how to make" videos I have seen. One question; What is the material you are using ? I am not familiar with its abbreviated name.
@plywoodworking4 жыл бұрын
thank you, glad you like the video, this is new material call HMR look like MDF but more solid, flaten, durable and waterproof, maybe not familier with the name, i see same material like this call valchromat
@bertkutoob4 жыл бұрын
@@plywoodworking Tx. In the meantime I took a look on Google and found this... "HMR and MDF both an engineered wood product. We made by breaking down wood chips into wood fibers, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure HMR - High Moisture Resistance board - is produced by special synthetic resin which enhances resistance extension of the thickness in high humidity environment" Always something new to learn!
@plywoodworking4 жыл бұрын
@@bertkutoob 100% right, that why HMR more durable and waterproof, i like this material real flat really work for make jig, only 1 minus from HMR coz from resin need respirator air and dust collector coz not good for healty

Better than that expensive sharpener
@plywoodworking4 жыл бұрын
Not expensive all cheap, if you have good knife only dull,only need grid 2.000 or only use mdf with fine polish for sharpening, i show repair broken old and dull knife that why i use many grid for sharp.

Not really.
@behradbehrady23853 жыл бұрын
Fine job on the build but make sure you wear a filter when cutting MDF material. Alsotry to not over heat the metal when you grind a new shape. If you heat the metal too much, you will have taken the temper out and your knife will not have the hardness to retain an edge.

The grinding wheel should be turning away from operator. Don’t want the blade to be thrown toward operator. Great project.

Not really applicable at that low of speed. The tormek system specifically says to grind for the majority of things with the wheels spinning into the edge.
@simonr67934 жыл бұрын
You make some fantastic items but out of curiosity do you wear a face mask? The reason I ask is the HMR when you cut it releases very fine particles of powder and this is carcinogenic, it's been proven to cause cancer in humans among other lung issues so it's very dangerous for your health, and of course we all want to see more of these fantastic videos that you make way into the future!
