In 2015, Edith Cowan University commissioned contemporary Nyoongar artist Sharyn Egan to produce an artwork as part of ECU's celebration of that year's NAIDOC week celebrations.
The painting, titled 'Bindi Bindi' will be permanently housed in the new Ngoolark building on ECU's Joondalup campus.
Perth filmmakers Patrizia Tonello and Graham Taylor (Abandoned Suitcase) recorded Sharyn as she demonstrated her unique method of creating paintings from the ground-up resin of grass trees, a local plant which has significance in Nyoongar Aboriginal culture.
Sharyn's deep connection to the lakes areas around her home just south of Perth form an integral part of her on-going art practice, evidenced in this brief documentary of her life as a contemporary Aboriginal artist.
