Having fluency in language and making the conversation enriching is two different things. All the native english speakers are fluent but that alone does not make all of them an excellent public speaker. You must have a repository of good sources, knowledge and references handy to be comfortable. What you say and how you say - those are the two aspects that are distinct in his case.

Wonderful conversation and what a joy to watch Dr. Tharoor at his fluent self! But, I must correct him, like many others, Dr. Tharoor mistook as Mahabharat as the tale of great bharat, our country.. But, correct meaning is, it is the Great tale (maha upakhyan) of King Bharat's dynasty (Bharat Raja), & that is how it is told at the start of the great sage Vyasa's narration of same.

I'm curious - what do you think the map of India looked like in 1700 AD? And how did you arrive at the 23% GDP number? True, the British plundered India, but it is high time you stopped complaining about 300+ years of history and look to the future. And the best way to go about it is to stop dividing the country on communal lines. The reason the Brits could invade and establish themselves in India was precisely the division that they created, and here you are propagating it.
