Greetings from Tennessee. This was another fine shave for the books. The Pearl Blaze is a handsome razor...know that you are pleased to have it in your collection. You are quite correct about appreciating the little pleasures. I am seeing and feeling this everyday. By the way, the Vie Long 12075 horse hair brush has been a delight. I am sorry that your experience was not so good. I suspect that Vie Long has made some improvements (by getting out those little prickly devils) of late. Perhaps, they would send you a replacement...might be worth a try. Happy days and all the best to your mom and sister as well. Take care of yourself my friend...hope that your health is good. Charles K.

Hi Charles. Yep, small pleasures my friend, there is a lot to be said for them. Just at this moment I am typing and sipping some French blend ground coffee. It's gonna be a good day! Be well, my friend.

I have the K2 and really like it. Its a mild razor. But leaves a nice smooth shave for me. What will surprise you is how the differant handle will give you a differant feel to the shave. The one you used today looked very nice as well. I still need to get some sterling products. Have a great wknd

Thanks Andrew, I was hoping someone would have the K2 and leave a comment - nice one. I am a little dubious about paying with my credit card but I'm stuffed if I can work out how Google Pay works!😁

It's great that your enjoying your Boar brushes again, I have also been increasing my Boar brush collection lately and I actually prefer Boar over Badger knots because of the way Boars mature constantly with use.👍🤠

I think, for us gentlemen that have many brushes, it is sometimes forgotten, that brushes mature and get better with age and lots of use. At least, it is that way for me.

Hell my friend Mark from across the pond in the land I once called home, I hope all is well with you and in the UK. Nice razor, and to me it seems to be an excellent value... a good quality razor at a very reasonable price. I really like your long-handled Boar Hair Brush. Up until 2004. I only had two shaving brushes... a Burma Shave Boar Hair that was my Father's and a long-handled Omaga Barber's Shaving Brush that was my Grandfather's that was gifted to him buy our Barber back home in Rapid City South Dakota. I still have both and use them often, and their well taken care of. Both brushes and as soft and comfortable as any brush could be, regardless of price or bristles. Back in about 2005 or so, Boar Hair Brushes were not getting much love. People would tell me that they're okay, but if your really want the best, you need a good Badger Hair Brush. Well I got a few as gifts and I've purchased a few more over the years. Some are inexpensive brushes, a few are mid-range Silver tips and one that my wife got me is a Simpson Badger and it was expensive. All of the Badgers are marvelous Brushes, but to be completely honest, my old Boar Brush are as good, perhaps even better with most soaps. Just over the last two months I just picked up an Omaga 10108 (Red Handle) and an Omaga 10098 (long-handle) Brush and I'm in the process of braking them in. Funny, many who told me I needed a Badger Brush, are now saying Boar Hair or Synthetic Brush are the way to go and they're now frowning on Badger Hair Brush because they upset about the Badger Farming in China. Well, I already have 6 Bager Hair Brushes and I'm not giving them up... all but two were gifts. Also, as I told one person, I always used Boar Hair Brushes and you didn't think highly of them and told me I needed a Badger to have the best quality shaving... which is pure poppycock. Also, I'm a wildlife biologist and I've worked on a recent study on the dangers to birds, fish and wildlife from the plastics in the environment, So I'll be keeping my Badgers and I've always love my Boar Hair Brushes, even when he talked down about them. All that said I do have three Synthetic Brushes that I use occasionally, and one is keeper in my travel bag. One good trait with synthetic brushes, is that they dry quickly which is important for me when working in the field or travelling. This way if I want to have a shaving before packing up, the brush dries very quickly. Have a marvelous day, and blessings to you and yours my friend.

Hang on a minute, George. So you have your father's, and your grandfather's brushes and razors! This is so awesome.😃 I bet they are well looked after. The 10098 Omega looks to be a great brush. There is always a dilemma to be faced, between choosing a hair bush, which harms the animal and choosing a synthetic brush, which, at some point, down the line, will harm the planet, or us. The bristles will not be recyclable, much like the synthetic bristles on a toothbrush, which have to be cut off before I can recycle the handle! Boar seems to be a worthy alternative. Perhaps the best alternative , that doesn't require a brush, would be to use shaving cream in a can! Aargh! 😬 You write as much as you like, my friend. I always enjoy reading your comment, but might not always be able to reply, at such length. All the very best, buddy. Take care.

@@FriendshipShaving I need to correct myself. My Father's brush is a Red/White Burma Shave Brush, but I mistakenly thought my Grandfather's brush was an Omaga, but its actually a Barber Shop Pure Bristle long wood handle brush. I've been shaving with it for 22 years you think I would have gotten that right! 😳 Yes, you do have that dilemma. And I agree, I think the best over all choice is a Boars Hair brush. And I believe that when broken in, they as marvelous as can be for a good lather and a nice pampering and therapeutic lathering of the face. Yeah... I love the experience of putting a good lather with a good brush on my face. Makes me feel marvelous! Oh, and when properly cared for, and good Boar's Hair Brush will last a very, very long time. My Father's Burma Shave Brush is from the late 1960s, and my Grandfather was gifted the Barber Shop Brush in 1966, but it bought by the Barber who gave it to him in 1959. My Grandfather taught me wash the brush out and to dry it properly after each shave, and to once a mouth to clean the boar bristles with a mild shampoo... shake out excess water, gentle squeeze and dab with a towel and to hang and air dry the brush after each use or cleaning. His brush is now 64 years old and is still marvelous. I do only use each brush once a week or so now, and use my newer brushes most often, but until the early 2000s, I used each every other day. So they hold up well when cared for properly. Have a wonderful week my friend, and blessings to your and your.
