Dan is a perfectionist... he knows how to make each song, each performance His. As someone else said he does not do "covers"... he does"betters" 😁❤ He pulls you in... brings emotions out you may not know you had... he does more of phantom of the opera... the duet you were speaking of is one. His Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar will absolutely blow your mind... Loved your reaction. Dan has studied for years to get where he is. And boy has it paid off.... to be honest... I don't believe Dan realizes just how phenomenally good he actually is.... he and his voice are such a gift to us.... Thank you again

Yes! Most people don't realize that right after he (intentionally, and purposefully) dropped out of college, he started his own business as a voice coach--teaching HIS methods. You can actually obtain one of his wonderful teaching tools (it's totally free). Just go to his website, then after you go to the actual home page (the bio page will lead you there), there's a little "Register" box that pops up, and when you DO that, you will receive a copy of his e-book "Healthy Voice." It's tremendous! 😀

Thanks for another reaction! Dan specifies “metal” if he’s metalizing a song, but he doesn’t do it all the time, and not where it would spoil the song. He’s very intentional about all his performances. This is gorgeous, isn’t it? As others have commented, now you really need to hear the Gethsemane scene. Even more of his range is on display, both vocally and theatrically. And don’t forget his very respectable Nessus Dorma.

Thanks for your great evaluation of Dan's beautiful rendition of this song. He has had many years of vocal, including classical, training. It really shows. If you had heard his Angels We Have Heard on High that he sings in 4 languages, you would also hear that beautiful classical sound. He also does several Nightwish covers, my favorite being Sleeping Sun. It is just amazing. Also, his cover of Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar is beyond incredible. Broadway worthy. I look forward to more Dan Vasc on your channel.

Being Brazilian th is not natural it comes out da. For me personally it only elevates his singing and speaking. He doesn’t do the same thing twice! Always a surprise from Dan! I like your reactions and especially your smile when it’s beautifully done. Yes, he’s classically trained but somehow he manages to add his Daniel goodness and it comes out better than others. You should watch the video where he talks about his 10 top inspirations for his voice. It will tell you a lot! Thanks again for you reaction

I have tears in my eyes every time I listen to Dan perform this song. He doesn't just sing it, he PERFORMS the song and tells the story. And thank you for pointing out the last note. To hold it that long without vibrato, so cleanly, and then to delicately introduce perfect vibrato.... the man is master-class.

Great reaction. My favorite part is where you explained what SHOULD (and does) happen as the dissonance goes through resolution to the very end. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I've tried to explain to others since first hearing Dan back in April when he posted "Amazing Grace," that though there were metal songs in years past that I did LOVE, because of their content, there were points in pretty much all of them, where I'd have to walk away and basically just shut my ears...because the harmonics coming out in the screams and growls of MOST of the artists back then, were anything BUT resolving, and some of them were so really bad that I just wanted to scream and throw the (back then) records, (and then later) the tapes, (and even later) the CDs somewhere where they could never be retrieved! HOWEVER...from my very first listen to Dan, that has NOT been the case. When Dan moves into ANY type of metal (or opera), my ears just open wider, and my brain says things like, "Oh, my! That is so PERFECT! PLEASE sing that again...at least a dozen times...or more...!" Seriously! When he does this particular finale, my whole BEING says that. I told my youngest daughter (my husband and I live with her, her husband, and their eight kids, on a small hobby farm) that, one afternoon, when I'd been bingeing on Dan music, and then told her that when he "fades to black," I would just like to fade into that shadow, right along with him, she laughed like crazy. Our whole family sings, and she and I have sung all sorts of music together. One of the songs we have LOVED to sing, over the the years, is this one. She warned me, "NO! That's NOT what you're supposed to do!" (grinning all the while...she knew EXACTLY what I meant). Seriously, though...I have not heard a single song that Dan sings, that I would EVER, EVER, EVER throw out the window, or break over a very sharp edge and throw in the trash. His voice truly pulls me in...every time. 😀 Again...great reaction...thank you very much.

Thank you for your great reaction to this song. One would think he was performing on stage instead of in his garage! In answer to your question re: his DA for THE, DA for TH sounds are heard in most of his older videos. Sadly, he has said he is working hard to lose that charming accent. I personally hope he never does. I noticed in his recent release O Holy Night that DA is now THE.

I've noticed Dan does sometimes turn "th" to "d" and I think that's his accent. Also, yes, he took just over ten years of vocal training, both classical and metal. (He has mentioned how much he disliked some of the exercises and practice, but did it because he wanted to improve.)

If you want to take a look at the best mixes between classical and metal in Dan's covers, Fairy Tale and Son of Pain are your best choices. One thing that will probably have you rolling on the floor laughing is the version of La Folie with soprano Mireille Delunsch and maestro Marc Minkowski. They managed to blow the doors of one the greatest arias in french opera while simultaneously doing physical comedy about an overbearing prima dona and her long-suffering conductor.

Yes! 🎉 Finally someone else has noticed. I can hear Dan's accent with the word the or a few other words that have a TH in the beginning. I think he says it a little bit differently and I believe that's because he's a Brazilian and English is not his first language. You are the first person I have ever heard who made that point and it's something I think about almost every time I listen to him sing. I'm so excited about you picking up on that that I'm going to subscribe and hit the little bell thingy and I'm going to go look and see what other Dan Vasc songs you've already listened to. Obviously this is only my opinion but the ‘da’ must be intentional for some reason?🤔 Because he says ‘the’ perfectly only seconds prior, as well as other points throughout the performance. He sings “‘THE music of ‘DA’ night”. He says it both ways in the same sentence. Dan seems to be very intentional in everything that he does… so I can only assume that it’s intentional?🤷‍♀️
