She's simply one of my favorite songwriters. Always has been. A gem in concert. Every song on her cds, golden.

Her intelligence shines on this song, and what a groove she creates with one instrument. This song made me fall instantly in awe of her talent, and voice.

I'll make a comment...212 viewings and not one yet. I so love watching her perform. I miss the Passim days so much...knowing that I was in the presence of a beautiful genius. I couldn't have known then what I know now...how deep her waters run. How important it is for her to find ways to suggest and paint her meanings without slapping you in the face with some obvious truism about life, love or meaning.

yes, i have that tune also.... S.C. is a wonderful lyricist... turned onto her about 8 or 9 years ago by a wonderful woman. She's been the top of my artists list ever since. The Facts about Jimmy.. nice melody... Shotgun down the Avalanche from the Coolest S.C. Album Cover ever... too much uneeded information from me... thanks for sharing.

This is one of the most poetic of songs...the arrangement is absolutely incredible, and the lyric...what can we say? It is such a poem of the '90's, the styling, the cynical artists, sincere pretenders, broken promises "from bedroom to business speak", and broken romances, "the conceptual pair". and the aging of the boomers "too young to die, too old for a lullaby, too tired for life on the ledge"...and then the great hopeful finish, "Valentine", the little moments that matter, transcendence

Dec. 17, 2012 Dear Shawn, I just felt so compelled so say "I love you"...because I do and because of all the chaos and horrible things going on in the world and yet there you are like a dependable beacon of hope that shines under all conditions, that keeps it's lovely head on straight no matter what...that's you! I'm thinking of you today Angel and praying that God will keep you safe as you shine your light and comfort us with your heavenly Angelic voice...I won't be afraid to say "I love you"

I have commented on this song before, but I keep coming back...For me, it is the anthem of the baby boomers post 1990's, "I am too young to die, too old for a lullaby, too tired for life on the edge", "this ship of fools", "the dawn of the menacing sky", "we all in our uniforms, black on black", "thinking we had it made", "the ugly American, thiner than oxygen, tough as a whore...nothing surprises me anymore". It is a song writing poetic masterpiece. "We don't look back". But we do, don't we"?

How can one make a meaningful comment about S.C. in 500 characters? Impossible...or is it? How much does she say in the space of a song? A musical painter is what she is...gorgeous poetry. How DID you ever make it through Shawn...knowing what you know now?

my favorite album cover... although there is another one where S.C. is in a very short dress walking .. but i think that's on the back of the cd, or perhaps the inside, not something one gets to see on ITunes...the truth is Object of My Affection appeals to my truly schmaltzy side... but after hearing S.C. talk about this song, makes it all the more ...real in context.
