He is just beyond incredible, Paul Gilbert once said that most of Shawn lanes best stuff was done behind closed doors because he was such a perfectionist, we probably only saw a fraction of what he had actually done which is sad but the fraction he left us is still out of this world and unsolvable!!

Probably my favorite Shawn Lane video. Killer tone and his bends and vibrato just ooze Hendrix vibe. He should've played a Strat as his main axe. Suits him well.

Interesting, too, that most of his best early stuff was done on a very average Roland GR303. Those were made at the Fujigen Gakki factory where they made Ibanez and Yamaha (and later Fender Japan) guitars. Add to that the fact that he preferred those rat-ass Westbury overdrives into solid state Holmes amps with 10” speakers and it’s really hard to understand HOW HE SOUNDED SO GOOD. That’s like tossing leftover KFC, stale peanut butter, and an old gym sock into a crock pot and managing to end up with a 3 Michelin Star entree. It just don’t make NO sense! But it’s so perfect that it doesn’t have to.

@@owlperchedsilo3745 it might help to say I'm not a musician, I'm a fan. I suspect that a dedicated AI will at some point be able to transcribe these things. But the transcription itself probably is not enough to understand how the artist played them in real time, particularly improvisation. I wish you luck finding one.
