He wrote a song about the media making up stories about him, including his sexuality among a number of things, and about trying to find himself spiritually, saying in the end everyone can say what they want, it doesn’t matter to him, it doesn’t make it true. He spoke about his sexuality at a concert, about the speculation since he was 15, and how it messed with his head, concluding that just like everyone else his age he is just working things out. So he literally said think what you like, he will just be himself, whatever that turns out to be.

Long story- short once I found out she was gone , by the way I didn’t know him. But I ran into him weeks later and he remembered me! They all make this sort of speech before coming out 'complex, personal, fluid, can't be defined blah blah' - once he finds a serious boyfriend he'll come out and then we'll all have to hear about gay this and gay that and how brave he was to come out. Meanwhile the really brave who for example - teenagers and early 20's person/s who work in a small town factory but came out in high school, got bashed and harassed were shunned by family etc. He will largely go unnoticed. You're right - the real heroes are those of us who came out 50 years ago, with the battle scars to prove it. However, we fought to create a better world for younger Gay people. So let's not hold it against him for stepping into that world. Yes, he's had it much easier than we did, for sure. As long as young Gay people known their/our history, don't take the progress for granted, and pay it forward, I don't begrudge them anything. Clearly this young man has struggles of his own. Wrestlers, soldiers and football players usually do not know how to express sensitive feeling or cannot express feelings through music since they seem to be better at fighting, hating, or possibly being involved with crime (so they are not gay). There are a lot of people that seem gay who are fantastic musicians, writers, artists, or have an interest in beauty such as in fashion photography or landscape photography. These are all sort of related interests, but society thinks that this is supposed to be a gay thing. You can be warm, compassionate, loving, sensitive and express sadness or happiness without sex. It can be done with music. But the public mostly thinks this is gay. Appearing to be a little bit gay is what makes artists great. A lot of heterosexual couples fight.......so what kind of love is that anyways? It is better to be single and sing songs, play music and look good and have everyone say you are gay. Boy Love songs and Boy Love stories and dramas are starting to become popular in Asia. But these dramas are never about sex. They are about love, compassion, co-operation, and developing long term sweet relationships. It is time for the American/Canadian music industry to make some changes.

I can understand his fans wanting to know his sexuality, but it really isn't anyone's business. With his life being so exposed, and uncertainties of how his career would be affected by making official statements, it's understandable if he's reserved. Perhaps he's Bisexual and apparently Bisexuals are on a spectrum, it's not a equal attraction to the sexes. I know someone that was married to a female for a long time and he met a man after his divorce and fell in love with him. He was conflicted over his attraction and it took him a while to come to terms, but he was in a relationship with the man for nearly 20 years, and when he died, he then started a relationship with a female and married her and he's been with her for just over 10 years.
