The only similarity between him and Mario is that they're both tall and they are both in amazing shape going into the NFL. even as a rookie, Mario had MUCH more lower body mass and power than this kid. He is like 6'5, 285lbs, with plenty of power in his legs and butt to gain leverage on tackles. This kid is 6'8.5", 280lbs, with almost no mass in his posterior / legs, but he has a huge torso and arms... This kid can either gain some mass in his ass, and bulk up to 300-305, and play DT or DE in a 3-4, and maybe he'll be Ed Too Tall Jones Jr., OR he will insist on trying to be an edge rushing DE in a 4-3 // OLB in a 3-4, and he'll never be fast enough in the pros, and with horrible leverage he'll spend a lot of time on his ass, then his ass will spend a lot of time on the bench. I hope it's the former.

I have to agree. He takes wide angles, and bull rushes with little to no skill. NFL lineman will absorb his power and size with leverage and technique. He's not very quick either.

The hype is real, the dudes 6'9 240 ... Watching him I expected more quickness and speed from him as he is also a Basketball player. Has alright speed, and he tends to get high a lot. You do that in the NFL tackles are going to lock your ass up all night. His technique needs work. Hopefully he is coachable and just doesn't rely on his size and power.
@terenceh329 жыл бұрын
+Yaahboi52 he's 6'9 his getting low is going to look high to anybody. As long as he has leverage he'll be fine.
@Yaahboi529 жыл бұрын
+terenceh32 Just cuz he 6'9 him looking high doesn't automatically means he low. Just cuz how tall he is? Even if he learns to use leverage, on the next level you got tackles that are just 1-2 inches shorter at 6'8 or 6'7 like All pro Joe Thomas and Jake Long who is 6'8. You need more then leverage to get past those kind of tackles and honestly any other tackle in the NFL. Technique, how to bend the edge etc.

Would make a great lock or flanker in Rugby Union with his height.
@Holy_hand-grenade8 жыл бұрын
While I'd like to believe this kid is the second coming of Ed "Too Tall" Jones, when I watch these highlights and I see his ENTIRE body composition, I am leaning towards a slightly taller, heavier, much slower Aldon Smith type of player... With a 4.75-4.8 40yd time, he's on the mid to slower end of 4-3 DEs, and 3-4 OLBs. With his height, he would almost be best served as a 3-4 DE who can interrupt pass plays with his height and grab RBs with his long arms... However, he looks SO top heavy... his legs look like a tall WR or DBs... or Aldon Smith... a lanky, OLB pass rusher. The reason Aldon plays as an OLB and not a DE is because he does t have the lower body mass to survive a Tackle or Guard with a heavy middle/bottom, barreling down on him with 315+ lbs of mass. compare a DE like Demarcus Ware and how he's built. Or a DT/DE like Michael Bennett. Or Justin Houston, JPP, Robert Quinn, Mario Williams etc. They all have powerful glutes, hamstrings, quads, and calves, so they can explode into a pass rush, AND so they can withstand the pounding of the run game. Other guys like Von Miller, Bruce Irvin, Aldon Smith & Chandler Jones are a little smaller, leaner, quicker burst... capable of rushing the QB but also dropping back into coverage. Well, they are all going to be quicker & faster than this guy too. So, with a 6'9" frame, super athletic, but VERY top heavy with spindly legs, and likely too slow to play OLB, where does this guy fit in the NFL? He only had 17 career sacks at Baylor despite his monstrous physique and tip top conditioning. That's a good number for a mid round draft pick, but I'm pretty sure Michael Sam had way more sacks than that in his time at Missouri... and I dont think any thinks Sam is or was NFL star material. Anyhow... I really have no idea what happens with this young fella, but I wish him well and I hope he becomes more of a Too Tall than an Aldon!
