Lesley Gore, was an American singer, songwriter & actress. At the age of 16, she recorded this pop hit "It's My Party" in 1963. She followed it up with many more hits including "Judy's Turn to Cry" ,"You Don't Own Me", "That's the Way Boys Are", "Maybe I Know", "Look of Love" & "Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows". Sadly she died in 2015.

Nobody cares if she ate the box. Let her talent stand on its own instead of using her success as a way to push a gay agenda. Would her music be any less, if she was straight? What she does behind closed doors is irrelevant. She said it best herself, "I just kind of lived my life naturally and did what I wanted to do," she said. "I didn't avoid anything, I didn't put it in anybody's face."

I love this song of course I was just a kid then .. the '60s was a great era for music. And as far as the fashion goes, beautiful. women used to dress up to go to the grocery store. My mom wore heels everywhere. I remember she used to clean house like crazy all morning. Then about 3:00 in the afternoon she would go spruce herself up before Dad came home. Dress heels pearls, standard uniform of the American woman. LOL
@jessemartin31253 жыл бұрын
My mother didn't dress up in heels and pearls after housework. Not all the millions in a partcular time or generation are alike. Especially my mother's friend across the street: large family, very artistic and creative, always interesting. They had a rhesus monkey for a pet! They had this toy I love: round and flat, goes across the floor and spits a ball out of its backend saying: "Odd Og, Odd Og, half turtle and half frog." It's just so weird. THAT was the 50s.

@edstein564210 ай бұрын
Gore had the fantastic ability to harmonize with herself & double tracked her vocals on her records. This was when there were only four tracks available in a studio to combine everything you heard on the record. Even by today’s standards, her recordings can be played full volume without breaking up. She was the first “girl power” recording artist in a pop musical landscape where females were depicted as subservient & foolish.
