Sadly, Lesley died in 2015, at the age of 68. She was only 16 when her first hit, It's My Party, was released in 1963. Judy's Turn To Cry was the follow-up to that, & became Lesley's second of many hits. Sunshine, Lollipops, & Rainbows and California Nights (from 1967) are 2 of my favorites, but all her songs are great to listen to.

Thxs for the good information. Appreciate it I didn't need to type it, 😂. Im a music historian know it. Always dug her music.

@@mamb70 I bet I could tell you some stories that would impress even a music historian. My dad was a jazz musician (trumpet) & arranger, & I grew up surrounded by music & musicians, in Philly. My dad played his first paying gig in the summer of '44, at the age of 13, & remained active & highly respected in the music scene there until we moved to SoFL where he remained active until we lost him in 2002. I don't know how far back you go in musical knowledge, but some of the great old jazz cats I knew were a real hoot.

Lesley Gore, was an American singer, songwriter & actress. At the age of 16, she recorded this pop hit "It's My Party" in 1963. She followed it up with many more hits including "Judy's Turn to Cry" ,"You Don't Own Me", "That's the Way Boys Are", "Maybe I Know", "Look of Love" & "Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows". Sadly she died in 2015.

The next part of the story is that Lesley Gore came out as a lesbian in 2005, and had been in a relationship with a woman for over 30 years at the time of her death due to lung cancer in 2015. She realized her attraction to women back in the '60s, but society wasn't accepting of people being openly LGBT back then.

Shawn and Mell, I want to wholeheartedly agree with Jessica Lee's comment. I grew up in that time period and I'm so glad I did even though it makes me old now (75) lol. But that was a fun time, the music timeless. But I want to add just a little more to what Jessica Lee commented on. It's refreshing to see someone now reacting to music in that time period. You help keep it alive and I know that those of us from that time period are eternally grateful. Your reactions are amazing. Please keep it going. Thank you so much.

Sorry, but Lesley is referring to 'It's My Party' and I'll cry if I want to because when Johnny and Judy walked in like a Queen with her King, she's wearing his ring'. Now it's Judy's turn to cry because when he was supposed to be hers at the party, now he's returned to her. Love love love your reactions and you guys are my favorite for sure. Love from Canada. :) It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you Nobody knows where my Johnny has gone But Judy left the same time Why was he holding her hand When he's supposed to be mine? It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you Play all my records, keep dancing all night But leave me alone for awhile 'Til Johnny's dancing with me I've got no reason to smile It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you Judy and Johnny just walked through the door (walked through the door) Like a queen with her king Oh, what a birthday surprise Judy's wearing his ring It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you Oh, it's my party, and I'll cry if I want to Cry if I want to Cry if I want to You would cry too, if it happened to you It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to
