Tracy Chapman is the queen, I got this Album in 1988 and it still sounds like it could come out today and not be out of place. Yes she wrote the song and every song on her Album . She is an Elite Singer Songwriter, you need to check out Hard Wired, Say Hallelujah, Across the Lines and Talkin' Bout A Revolution to start your journey down this wonderful Ladies rabbit hole. Edit and forgot one of the best A must listen to song is Subcity

I was working in a French bakery on the upper west side of Manhattan when this song came out. I was going through a terrible break up. I was crying into the big batch of ginger bread when my boss told me to take a break. I walked out of front door and I ran into Robert DeNiro as he was coming in and he said ' are you okay?'.
