Edit: she states in interviews that she's always seeked control because she never had it. The beginning tracks are her looking for that control and wanting things to be how she wants them to be. The ending tracks are where she lets go of wanting to have control in her life and over situations. She's just living and going with the flow of life.

TehClide bro the album dropped 18 hours after he put out the video. The album takes 50 minutes to listen to. He probably talked between and after the album for about 20-30 minutes. I feel like when you skipped Drew Barrymore you lost a piece of the narrative which is the transition from her being upset with not being appreciated enough and then realising that she's so lonely that she's willing to accept anything, (which is reinforced in Prom by saying that she's afraid that she's not doing enough). I feel like the whole album is exactly that, a struggle with control, being too uptight (go gina) and then being down for whatever (anything) and then by the end she realises that really doesn't have anything figured out but that ultimately it's okay.

However I do agree that she could have changed the subject matter more, having more confident songs like Doves in the Wind and with trippier production like Pretty Little Birds. It's a great album and i'm so excited for what she's gonna do next.

That's literally what I said during the review part of this video. That being said, she reinforces the same concept in a repetitive manner. Too many tracks cover the same subject to the point where we could have gotten something else. The tracks that aren't the same are the ones that contradict one another like The Weekend/Love Galore and Supermodel/Garden. Those tracks she's talking about not feeling good enough show up too frequently so the message loses its bite each time.

Something that may take you days to discover may only take me a few minutes(depending on the project). I said the project was still good and SZA's performance is a major starlight, but it still falls short and I explained why.

It more or less just admits to being insecure and unstable without being thematic enough to portray that on its own. Not a bad album at all but it works better as a scattered project than a cohesive one imo

Idk, seems like the subject matter on CTRL works for me (music, vocals, features, production all sound real good) bc of how she acts in interviews; she talks real quiet, seems real shy and unsure of herself, moves around alot then feels like she has to explain herself, etc. So i buy the insecurity, the feelings of inadequacy, the desire for external approval, all of which cn lead to some of the lashing out/ self-destructive behaviors she talks about. I dont think its just an act. Shes flawed but upfront abt it on the record. I basically like the whole album & i listen to it beginning to end bc it just sounds so good; the tracks have a fantastic flow and except for Travis' all the features work great, esp on Doves and Wavy. Solid project, lots of replay value for me. Thx

Fav Tracks: Supermodel, 20 Something, Go Gina, Broken Clocks, Drew Barrymore, Love Galore, Wavy (--you know what? Theres ALOT Least Fav Track: Garden, if I had to pick one. Production's on point, vocals are ear candy. There are some weird lines but overall the song writing is pretty good. There is a concept, it reminds me of Blank Face in terms of how they conveyed their concept, in other words the concepts are pretty loose. The album is pretty tight, there's not really much filler. 9/10
