I came across Shawn James at the lowest point of my life, I had came across hellhound and fell in love with his singing. With every song I had came across by him I found a bit of determination to keep going. Started learning the guitar and started singing a lot more, made some great friends who taught me more and more. Started singing for friends, one of the best feelings ever, I don't feel down anymore. I hope this gets to Shawn, want him to know he's changed more life's than he would ever believe, keep going bud.

Man after all the years growing up hearing this overplayed song I actually grew a resentment towards this band and especially this song. @@kekz0r "Dark Folk" is a pretty vague umbrella term to be honest, that tries to describe a very niche, moody, bluesy sound, which can appear in very different genres - reaching from Blues/Country, across Electronic music, towards the Rock/Metal Genres. The term may be used synonym with "Dark Blues" or "Dark Country Music" - depending on who you ask. "Dark Folk" is a somewhat experimental attempt to describe that very specific sound of a Musician (and often times only a couple of songs), if you feel like the classic term "folklore" is not strong enough to describe it. Other Artists I can think of, that could fall in that sub-genre: Kaleo, The Heavy Horses, Dead Can Dance, Blues Saraceno, and even Johnny Cash with some songs. I hope this vague explanation helps :) Cheers

Guys, girls and non-binary pals, although I do agree with some of the cover ideas, I'd like to take a moment to remind you of the fact that Shawn isn't a cover machine. He produces awesome original songs (as we all know), and his covers are very original as well. As much as we'd like him to cover a specific song, I'd be much happier with him choosing the songs he wants to cover - which he probably does anyway. Not hating on anyone, I fully understand the urge - but I feel like there are a bit too many comments nearly telling him what to do, and too few telling him how freaking good this cover is. In this regard: Shawn, this cover is freaking good! Really loved it. :-)

Let's not get carried away. He rulz hard, but "WAY MUCH BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL" for every cover he does is hyperbole. Taking nothing away from his amazing song interpretations, but it's not like he's covering half-assed songs by middle of the road talents. He chooses his material because it's important to him.
