My love for this band hasn’t diminished in almost 50 years! I never got to see them in person, although I did see Roger Hodgson in person as a solo act, which was one of the best concerts ever! If you want a long Supertramp song, Fool’s Overture for the win!

We have almost a 50 year head start on you with this one. Been enjoying this album since the mid-70’s.

Hey man you still haven't played School yet! It's my favorite Supertramp song with Logical Song close second. It's got the best opening. Haunting. Deep message

The first time I heard this song on the radio I’m like, what is this? This is great , I need to pick this album up! 👍🏻After I got home and put it on the turntable, I ended up listening to the entire album. It was The Crime of the Century.

Supertramp was an intelligent & musically genius gather of gentlemen. Their pieces of work~everyone~hits deep & there is an offer of fun, as well. They helped to create our rock n' roll history. And, they did it well.

Supertramp is one of the best groups of all time. I was fortunate to see them live twice. Their sound was perfect, in fact the guy on the sound board was the studio engineer that recorded Crime of the Century. Each of the front men (3) play multiple instruments, them bass and drums fill it all in.

One of the band's heavier tunes. God I love the 70s. Such a stew of musical creativity.

Supertramp are so good at that light/heavy funk. Bringin all those parts and instruments together to nail that FUNK. Throwin that sax on the fire is so sweet. Always too short a jam!

Intro is just plain BADASS! NICE choice!

Indeed. Supertramp has the unique ability for making very complex music not only listenable, but damn enjoyable as well. Great band, incredible catalogue.

Great band on the early days. Even In The Quietest Moments album and title tune is fantastic too.

One of the top unmistakable intros of all time. Supertramp in concert was such an amazing thing to witness.

This song is such a masterpiece!! That's how fun it was growing up in the 70s when all these songs were just on the radio & more hits kept coming out over and over...we thought it would never end.

And that is how you do an intro... There are live versions where the outro gets stretched out, sax player John Helliwell gets to shine
@snakeinthegrass74438 ай бұрын
My fav introduction to any song, by far! The way the first note just hits you and then you get the start of that repeated note until you get punched in the face two more times before the explosion of sound that surrounds you and brings you in. Oh man, what an eargasm!!

Another of Supertramp's oh-so-unique great songs. This one is both cool AND fun! My 2 favorites of theirs are SCHOOL and RUDY.

This is still my favorite song by them and I like a lot of it. But this was on the radio so much when I was a very little kid, and later I had a best friend who was British well and also australian, well and also South african, but their family use that word a lot but their mother who was like a British librarian was explaining that not all that long ago, it was a really unacceptable cuss word just like some of them here in america. It literally meant going directly against the Queen of England but in a bloody way, or at least that's what she was saying. But I definitely got the sense that it was edgy at some point but it become common, just like a lot of our profanity over here. All I know is this thing totally rocks. It just has always rocked and it will always Rock for me. It's got all the contrast and all the new ones and it's like a steamroller in a way which I think you said. But I would say in the choruses , it was barely the only thing in the mix and it was really up front - you could hear every tiniest nuance of his voice even down to the near glottal stops and vocal fry when he fell off some of those phrases. That's what I love about it is the extreme range of it in so many different directions. Mostly it just rocks.

I knew you'd dig that long, funky intro - this definitely made my short list of SUPERTRAMP favorites, and Half a Century old! The lyrics detail someone who's bitching they aren't going places because they aren't bluebloods or hooked up in the right circles, and the reply is "so what - don't bitch to me, even though you got a right to do so. I'm not jumping on your little rebellious bandwagon, you're only Harshing my Buzz - so Hush Yo' Face!"

This really needs to be heard as part of the album it came out on, "Crime of the Century", though even on its own it's a banger. They hit their popular peak with the "Breakfast in America" album (Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home), but there's a lot of sauce in the earlier stuff, especially the "Crime of the Century" and "Crises What Crisis?" albums. A few more songs you might like include "Lady", "Two of Us", "Give a Little Bit", and "Dreamer".

I'm a little surprised you hadn't already done this one already Shawn! A lot of people liked Rodger Hodgson's songs and he did write some good ones. But Rick Davis wrote the better songs in this group, mo. This being one of them. Edit: I know they're both listed as writers of the song but this is as accurate as Lennon-McCartney being listed as the writers when you could clearly tell which one of them wrote the song.
