This is a slowed down version of this song. It's usually a lot faster and has a really strange music video of The band trapped in a giant wardrobe falling off a cliff
@intothesunset34 ай бұрын
It's a 1990 remix, which was released as a single and charted higher than the original 1985 single. They made a second (just as strange :) video with this version. To me it sounds just a little slower than the 1985 version.

There are 4 versions of "Close To Me": -The version from the album "Head On The Door", which doesn't have the trumpets -The single version, which is the one from the album with trumpets (I think it's also the one in the video) -The maxi-single version (Extended) with trumpets and an intro with only the trumpets -The version (Closer Mix) is the remix for the compilation album "Mixed Up" which is the one you've heard Ahh! There is a fifth version, the acoustic version for the album "Greatest Hits" Personally I prefer the Extended version, if you liked the trumpets you have to listen to it... I also recommend that you watch the video, apart from being very funny, it won the award for the best video of 1985
@intothesunset34 ай бұрын
There's even one more version than that :) This is the "Closest Mix" (shorter than the "Closer Mix"), which was (I think) the version they released as a new single in 1990, and used for the second video. I agree that he should see the video (the 1985 one)...I think you're right that it's the single version with trumpets.

@@intothesunset3 You're right, there's the "Closest Mix" and the "Closer Mix", although it's the same version but with different lengths, one the single and the other the maxi. I have on vinyl: The maxi-single from '85 An EP from '86 called "Quadpus" with A Night Like This / New Day / Close To Me (12" Mix) / A Man Inside My Mouth And the maxi-single from '90

@@DuctedDj Cool! I wish I had more of their music on vinyl. I love every extended version of "Close to Me" that I've heard. Someday Shawn will have to hear all of them :) (and "A Night Like This" which is my favorite Cure song).
@intothesunset34 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for reacting to this, Shawn😊♥ I agree that this song sounds kind of hip hop. "Trip hop" was starting around the time this version came out (during hip hop's "golden age"), which was influenced partly by hip hop, jazz, funk and post-punk bands like the Cure. This mix is from 1990, they released it as a new single and it charted higher than the 1985 single...I love them both, I hope someday you can hear the 1985 versions too, and see the 1985 video. Also their performance of it “Live in Orange” is very fun to watch.

It's not the original single (1985) but a remix for a special electronic remix album called MIXED UP in 1990, Georges michael rippoff the original for his single Faith in 1987
@oskarobit4 ай бұрын
This ' Close to Me (Closer Mix)' contains a sample from Kool & The Gang. As far as I know 'Faith' only has one sample and it's from 'Freedom' by Wham, George formerly duo. What you've heard is a mashup.
@jean-christophelebachelet59264 ай бұрын
@@oskarobit I don't talk about the mashup video or even sample, but that the knowing fact that Georges Michael was so blown away by close to me that he delibary take more than an inspiration with the rythm section to do the single Faith.... At my surprise Georges Michael was a big post punk fan enthousiast, Joy division was one of his favorite band

"Mixed Up" was a greatest hits album, but it was designed for the night clubs of the late 80's... hence the Mixed versions of the songs. I personally enjoyed it. But, there was a lot of people that didn't feel the vibe at the time.

You mean "Prince" the Lead singer is delivering "Prince" like vocals!!! The Cure musicians are delivering a prince hip-hop beat with some Jazz horn riffs and solos which makes the song New Wave Hip-Hop Prince song!!! Good song!!! Good Good reaction!!!
