My absolute favorite Pet Shop boys tune!!!! I literally wore the 7" single out by playing it non-stop. This was also a great comeback for Dusty Springfield!!

That “lady” is Dusty Springfield, a 60’s pop music goddess. Back in the day she was friends with Jimi Hendrix (check out their duet “Mockingbird”) and she also had a hand in getting a then unknown band named Led Zeppelin a recording contract. She was an amazing woman.

It was the height of their fame, they had a lot of female artists of the time wanting to do it Madonna, Kylie etc, they said no we wrote it for Dusty. She was living as a recluse in a motel in America, whilst on tour they tracked her down and convinced her to do it. It was her last no 1 in the u.k.

It's A Sin and Suburbia are great PSB songs, and both got a lot of airplay in the 80s. Just like in West End Girls, the lyrics stand in sharp contrast to the synthpop sound.

Love Pet Shop Boys! Their lyrics are always original, funny sometimes, as in Rent (my favorite) for example. And their sound is unique.They're a huge rabbit hole!

West End Girls by Pet shop Boys was their biggest hit and got a lot of radio airplay. Domino Dancing (the second song you reacted to) did get some airplay but not to the extent of West End. That may explain the views. However, Pet Shop Boys had a massive following in the alternative and dance charts and are much loved by us. In fact, they just released a new album a few months ago. Other songs to check out: It's a Sin, Paninaro, Opportunities, You Know Where You Went Wrong, Left To My Own Devices, Love Comes Quickly... I can go on and on. Don't give up on them, please!

If you listen to his comment, his first reaction to the Pet Shop Boys was with West End Girls and a lot of people tuned in. It was his second Pet Shop Boys reaction that did not get as many views. That song was Domino Dancing. I personally think DD is also a great tune but, compared to West End Girls, does not nearly have the same recognition factor.

Dusty Springfield - the greatest British female singer of all time? That's an interesting debate. She must be there or thereabouts. Back in the 1960s Dusty used to have her own show on the BBC. There are plenty of clips from it on YT. One in particular shows her singing the folk standard "The Water Is Wide" which she handles really sensitively. It shows how beautiful she was back then also (the beehive hairstyle suits her better than the hairstyle in the PSB video). Another really good track from this show is "Some Of Your Lovin'" which is Dusty in her more well known soul mode.

They (PSB) wrote this with Dusty Springfield in mind and the song actually helped to resurrect Dusty’s career in the 80s. They also did a similar project for Liza Minnelli who had a hit with the song “Losing My Mind”. Keep on your Pet Shop Boys journey. IT'S A SIN along with the video was a big hit for The Pet Shop Boys basically about his homosexuality & The Church. The Beat is great with loads of meaning. I prefer the original Domino Dancing version which was a popular song in the dance clubs in the 80's. You played the extended dance mix which I am never a fan of. I saw The Pet Shop Boys 2x's in Concert in 1990 & 1992. Other great songs are SUBURBIA, LEFT TO MY OWN DEVICES, GO WEST & more.
